Sightseeing in the coastal fog...

Recommended Posts

Conditions looked so fine when I took off in Monterey and crossed Cannery Row.

But just around the corner, in Pebble Beach, the visibility got worse.

GPS made me find Fish Head Hill airstrip (what a name?). Technically this is like a Papua NG bushstrip. Can you even see the runway in the second shot?2016-5-2_18-53Fishheadhillairstrip.jpg

Laguna Seca Raceway, hard to spot.

And even for landing in KMRY I needed 2 attempts with this weather. A nice challenge to fly, but if you want to explore scenery...

Some interesting features in your shots Gerold.

The poor coastal visibility appears to be a regular feature in this part of the world, having done a few flights in real time weather and had to turn back inland to see the ground!

I usually fly in real weather and was quite disappointed at Californias coast in the last weeks...

Fine shots! Weather conditions do not have a Lord, they are what they are and we have to adapt! LoL ^_^

But you're a competent pilot!

Voyager

Thanks for the compliment, and re the weather lord you are right, V-ger. For the following flights I used Orbx weather 2, means JV played the role of the weather maker...

I am just heading west from Cloverdale with real weather set and I don't know what to expect. Maybe have to return to base!

All that condensation hovering in the valleys just waiting for you to get airborne  -  a weather magnet:).

Maybe this is the reason... and probably some guys have this magnet even in real life... (but is works only for fog & rain!)
