BOZ
So what do you guys think is the best DC-3 addon for P3D or FSX? Is JustFlight the only option?
Nick Cooper
Fortunately not. There is an excellent free version of the C 47 you can find at the Sim Outhouse which will eventually have a superb VC made by one of the original developers of the equally superb MAAM Sim DC3. The C 47 is native FSX, the MAAM SIM is not but still works well. Of course there is the FSX default version too which isn't dreadful. ...and Just Fight do a payware one. Surprising really that such an aviation icon has not attracted more developers.
BOZ
Thanks Nick. Glad to hear someone may be updating the VC.
Nick Cooper
If you can log into SOH, there is a 48 page thread about the VC. It will be very special when finished.
olderndirt
Though Manfred&Co's DC3 is a C47, it's still the best out there and latest screenies reveal the WIP VC to be a masterpiece.
Stratocruiser
Agreed. Manfred's C-47 and C-117 are the best. They will also work in P3D. BOZ
WOW that DC-2 looks awesome! I think I have to have that...
cmitch81
I also have and like the Uiver DC-2. Some people do not like the auto pilot because it allows the altitude to vary +-100 ft but what can you expect for a very early version? It can be tricky (realistically?) to start, and can overheat leading up to take off and altitude (no cowl flaps) but this is also probably realistic. I fly it a lot in FSE as the passenger count seems to be just right for that add-on. cmitch ==========
Nick Cooper
To be fair, it's not an auto pilot, it's a co pilot and the fact that he/she doesn't fly precisely is another mark of an excellent model, I think. Doesn't it say "Good job" or something when you disengage it?
BOZ
Can I port that Uiver to P3D3?
Patrick Cox
The Uiver DC-2 ports over to P3D V3 with not problems. I was on the beta team for FS9 and FSX versions and spent a lot of time trying to break it in P3D. Cheers Pat
VH-KDK
Fly Manfred's C-47 regularly with the added TW sound set as suggested by them.
flyingleaf
Manfred C47 is great. I fly her mostly from PNW all the way to Alaska low and slow. But got to check the Uiver DC-2. Cheers.

And, yes... you get a very happy and enthusiastic "good job" when you disengage it! Ha! cmitch ==============
TigerTigerM
Probably a bit of an odd query, but which of the following DC-3, DC-2 & C-47 have working cowl flaps? FSX Default DC-3 Just Flight DC-3 Uiver DC-2 Manfred C-47 TTM
Nick Cooper
All of them except the DC2, I believe the real world one didn't have cowl flaps fitted.
TigerTigerM
Thanks Nick. If you only had room in your hanger for 1 of the 4 above that I listed, which would you settle on? TTM
Nick Cooper
I have the Uiver DC 2 and the Manfred Jahn and team C 47. If I had to choose one..... I couldn't, which is why I have both. The Vintage VC for the C 47 is a work of art in the making and will eclipse every DC 3 version when it is finished. The DC 2 is a different aircraft and a work of love by its developers. TigerTigerM
Okay Noted. Thanks TTM Postscript: I went to flyawaysimulations.com to download the Manfred Jahn C-47 Base Pack & found there are 96 downloads available. The Base Pack & 95 repaints!. As fate would have it the Base Pack was 5 pages in at #96. I was giving up hope,
TuFun
Manfred's C-47 v.2 was a challenge to work on since that was my first stab at engines sounds. The slow radial startup coded in the model is what intrigue me to try sound work. Thanks to all who have downloaded the sound set. Jan has been working on the authentic VVC for the bird and is top notched work. If you have Manfred's C-97/KC-97, that's the second sound set I produced. Hats off to you sir for your magnificent sound sets. They add that finishing touch to two of the best planes out there. The sounds have gone onto several radial powered oldies I have to improve the experience greatly. Keep it up and look forwards to your next sound set whatever that may be.
