  2. sheesh !! - Don - I feal good being Grandad to 12 off springs - but not sure how you will feel after 12 all at once I can se a big fight coming with only 8 able to chomp down at once Take your mind off windows folder probs for a while anyways
  3. just for curiosity - since I built a new PC 4 months ago and installed W10 Home - just checked and VBS not installed - and there have been around 4 updates in that time - last one 2 weeks ago I get with 1080 - average 50 fps - ultra - i7 - 3060 - 48 ram
  4. quotes from article ""Microsoft is now apparently turning on VBS post-updates, at least in some cases (and this could be true for Windows 10 systems as well as Windows 11)"". --- the only time I could see W10 mentioned ""There were some games that fared worse, as you might imagine. Tom’s Hardware highlights - Microsoft Flight Simulator - which experienced average frame rate drops of around 10%. Far Cry 6 and Control also exhibited 10% or so drops (at 1080p resolution with certain graphics settings, anyway). Other games were much less affected, or saw no difference at all in some cases. It was this Para that prompted my reason for placing the article --- read it as you wish
  5. Windows 11 could be stealth-nerfing graphics cards – even the RTX 4090 (msn.com)
  6. this is dedication to our hobby - Burwell man builds Spitfire simulator in his shed - BBC News
  7. during the discussions on digital Painting - Angelo - a member of the Orbx team - said he used a software named PROCREATION I hadn't heard of the software before - but with 5 kids - and 10 grandchildren - and so far - 9 great Grandchildren - and dozens of paintings I suppose that the talent I had demonstrated best - was PROCREATION - using Digital Hardware - (PC and Brushes - that is !)
  8. Wow - that definitely must have taken some time - the Wacom Tablet came in useful with all those whiskers - no cut and paste there I wonder how the cats would come out on your new computer - probably half the time ----and the sketches aren't half bad either - was that Pussy Galore ? - the only sketches I can manage are the rough outs for my Brush Paintings
  9. Stick drawings - EH? - My fellow Lancastrian - L.S.Lowry - made his fortune using stick figures nice garden - but is it permanent? just an E.G. --- 10 mins on the PC and you could have permanent reminder printed on Canvas - 20 mins - it could be better However - if you haven't got a PC - a Brush and paints can work !!
  10. my favourite bird - and good shots - now get out your Wacomb and splash around in the snow
  11. OK rob - if we have grabbed your interest - why not give it a try - even with the screen shots of flyers The DC3 took me 5 mins using the trial copy of Corel's Painting Essentials and my mouse
  12. wow! Don - it looks as if you were really serious with all that literature I never came across Jeremy Sutton but have just taken a looksee at his site I came into it via Photography and a special forum where we competed with one another on Manipulations Some one would come up with a photo(s) and challenge us to rebuild something on a theme - using Photoshop or something similar - I used Photoimpact - and sometimes we made book covers given a title - this was Gog and Magog field in the UK - and the other Harry Potter meets Valdorlord? ----- Wacomb Tablets a must - I agree when one is serious Looking forward to seeing some of yours
  13. Great Don - it does me good to see that I am not alone in digitals - maybe with Angelo- and your contributions - we might just get participants in the hobby and you know the software - Painter by Corel - dammed expensive though when I first bought it 15 years go Roger and Iain seem taken with the diggies- maybe we can convert the screenshot expertise of Iain's to him to have a go - lots of scenery in Cumberland I know what you mean when mates see your work and want a piece of the action - these 2 paintings finished up on canvas for one of my Horsey mates and folks in my UK home town actually got me to do 2 years of calendars showing digitals of the old town as it used to be
  14. Angelo - G'day - I had to Laugh - With 5 Kids - 11 grandchildren - and 8 great grandchildren - I also used procreate Seriously - thanks for the comments and I checked on procreate of course and found you must use it on your Tablet --- "Ideas"?? I used Painter from Corel a lot - but I would recommend to anyone trying something for the first-time to use the smaller version "Painting Essentials" Corel will let you try it out for 30days
  15. OK - some examples - and if someone wishes - I will elaborate more on a substitute for flugging on your powerful computers - it is simply pushing around a photograph because the paint is always wet and your mouse is a brush with the simple software - similar to the paint one in windows impressionism is the best way to describe the colourful result - try it on famous scenes in Venice or Paris
  16. Don - Rob just saved me the task
  17. "Happy Valley" - Wain - that was one that I almost used - because the old lady and I Binged the whole 3 series last week - a great example of Brit TV - and ---- as ex Northerners' - (red rose) - we understood every word
  18. in my book - i.e. - not the missus - one my all time must watch again - is the British - "Downton Abbey" and at the moment - again the British series "Piece of Cake" - a sort of one man's Battle of Britain - if you like the Spitfire It's based on the book by Derek Robinson - the second book in the series - the "Hornet Squadron" which is actually based on the Hurricane - fighter in WWII - and various oldies in WWI it can be found on utube - piece of cake tv series youtube - YouTube
  19. Just for fun on a quiet day Once upon a time - when I was not Flugging around the blue yonder - I dabbled in Art - Brush and Digital paintings The advent of the long awaited Antonov released today - reminded me of a diggy pic I did many years ago for a surf chopper patrol competition
  20. Safe landings and my second Caribou flight --- my first was in a real one at Laverton 1977 Thanks Orbx !
  21. it's just like a GOOD DINNER PARTY - with good wine and good friends - all with the same hobby conversations
  22. Just you get back to that Vulcan bomber - I want to fly it to Moscow ' Meanwhile - just to show that I hadn't completely forgotten my flight Simming - here's a Painting I did a long time ago There is a manmade strip of land ( SPIT) to protect a certain expensive part of Noosa - one of our more famous Holiday spots in Queensland which provided the title - "NOOSA SPIT" --- just an impression
  23. NZAA is probably one of my favourite developers - ever since their freebie Kalgoorlie A/P and - with one exception - I have all their offerings - including a whole raft of NZ freebies. I wish they had done Auckland and Wellington Milford Sound - will be an immediate purchase
