  1. My first car was a Ford Cortina 1600GT which was not much good driving around the streets of London, however, when I was posted to Washington DC I bought a nearly new MGBGT from a departing colleague. Had an absolute blast for two years with it and forty years later I wished I had shipped it back to the UK. It would be worth a bob or two now.

  3. In a similar vein on funny adverting names, this company is based in Battle, East Sussex where a certain French invader defeated KIng Harold in 1066.
  4. My limit is this equation - money in during the month minus expenditure during the month = oops, overdrawn again.
  5. Great picture. What a memory to have.
  6. Funnily enough I just watched Buster Scruggs a few days ago and am continuing with the rest of the film. An absolute gem.
  7. I heard only a few days ago from my Berliner friend that Tegel is also hosting a tented village for Ukranian refugees arriving in the capital. I enjoyed many a flight into and out of Tegel as I could sit in the Charlottenberg brewery keeping an eye on my delayed inbound flights from London.
  8. I recall visiting a cemetery/memorial somewhere in Borneo, I think it was Labuan, where the Japanese surrendered to the Australian forces. A very moving experience indeed, having also visited in 1988 the memorial at Kanchunaburi to the fallen soldiers on the infamous Burma railroad. I also met a number of ex servicemen at a reception in Bangkok. All of them were humble, honest men who felt it was their duty to serve and sought no publicity or fame. We owe our freedom to them all.
  9. Spent many a night sitting under the canopy of stars in the deserts of the Middle East. The total silence, vastness of the deserts and the overwhelming array of stars, planets and satellites is something to cherish.
  10. It could certainly do with a makeover
  11. Yep, I've got the shorts down from the loft and the bbq is ready to go. Now for the unexpected cold snap as we head into April.
  12. Hopefully a full one. It's a sad day when you hang on to an empty beer bottle
  13. Never tried barbequed porridge John? You don't know what you're missing
  14. I read the instructions from cover to cover on discovering the lone screw sitting in the box AFTER completion of the build.
  15. The idea of adding more fuel tanks is commendable but this........?
  16. Had a very satisfying bottle of this 7% Munchener beer recently. Unfortunately I had to walk back to my residence so kept it to one bottle only. An excellent winter brew.
  17. 1. Depends on which part of the world you are in 2. With my specs on they all look the same to me 3. Not clear if we are to use all nine shapes to make a square or to use one at a time - poorly worded question 4. No need to unscramble. It's the word I use when hit my thumb with a hammer, or stub my big toe getting back into bed after my third visit of the night to the bathroom 5. None of them. There is no point in responding when the other half asks a question when in reality, in her mind it is a statement of fact
  18. In a similar vein, a old man is in for his annual health check accompanied by his wife. At the end of the physical exam, the doctor tells the old man he has to produce a sample of urine, faeces and semen. Hard of hearing, the old man asks the doctor to repeat. The doctor does so but again the old man does not hear. He turns to his wife and asks what the doctor wants. His wife replies in a loud voice " you're to leave your underpants at the reception desk".
  19. In fact it has been released and she said it is very good. Must have a listen myself.
  20. Had to look twice at these snapshots. I felt quite seasick.
