  1. Orbx Content: AU Australia V2. Below is Halls Gap, on the edge of the Grampians in Western Victoria. It is 260 km west of Melbourne. Halls Gap is named after the first settler, Charles Browning Hall. He came to the area in 1841 looking for grazing for his cattle. Today it has a population of 430 and is primarily a tourist town.
  2. An excellent image, fantastic detail on the mountain too.
  3. Excellent set Gerold and it is a huge improvement over the Global Base Pack which in itself was a huge leap forward. Some wonderful topography adds to the exciting chopper flight, I haven't flown one for ages. Steenberg Mountain. Have a look on Google Earth 34 05 55 S, 18 26 59 E. It looks like some special feature for the walking track but it now looks to be overgrown.
  4. 1976 was three months of above average heat and drought. Dams dried up and residents getting water from stand pipes in the streets in the north. Grass turned to straw. Where I worked we were on flexi time and were able to start one hour early at 6am. Many forest fires especially in the south. 1972 summer never came with only 2 warm summery days. The rest of the time was overcast and wet.
  5. Where I live is 440 ft elevation and I found it hard to imagine when I was in Arizona that the elevation in places was around 7000ft. I love the thunderstorms but they can cause fires when it has been dry. They are a major cause of fires here along with arsonists who are responsible for well over 50% of bushfires. I would like to take them up in a water bomber and drop them onto the fire. The other problem is the terrible forest management where preventative measures such as winter burn offs of the undergrowth and firebreak maintenance are stopped by certain groups. Your area Landon, looks really amazing especially so close to the mountains.
  6. I can remember the roads melting back in the 60s as well as there being out of the ordinary temperatures then. I saw a comparison weather map from yesterday and 1976 and would you believe '76 was warmer. Guess where most of the weather stations are too, airports with all the concrete which I think causes the temperature to rise compared to the surrounding farmland and woods. It is 09:00 now and a balmy 42f outside and 52f in my house. I will turn the heating on soon for when the trouble gets up!
  7. Thanks Adam. Don't tell me, you have a beer in each hand.
  8. Thank you Andreas. About 2 1/2 of hours from YLIL and 2 from YMML. I did drive past YLIL 3 years ago and the intention was to stop and take some photos but it was raining heavily. Also there was a lot of traffic on the narrow road and I missed the entrance to the airport.
  9. Thank you Landon. Green in the winter but straw in the summer unless the field is under irrigation. I don't mind it here but sadly we do have the ususal problems of drugs and burglaries.
  10. Thanks Wayne, the shadows make a big difference to the realism.
  11. Thanks Wayne. I got a bit behind yesterday, not the best of days!
  12. Apologies for not replying sooner. This was taken in P3Dv4.5. I hope Wayne has answered your question for you.
  13. I like the Zlin Paul and I can see why you confused my Rallye with it the other day. You have chosen a beautiful area to fly around in it as your images show. Hope you are all surviving the heat over there, our turn to come in a few months. Where I live we get very low humidity which makes the heat more bearable but that also makes ideal conditiond for bush fires. 05:40 and 34F with a wind chill of 30F. Cold fingers again this morning breaking the ice on my aviary bird's water.
  14. A glorious jet set Andreas. I am not sure if the birds around there will enjoy fried worms for breakfast.
  15. Beautiful colours in the scenery and sky, great image.
  16. Adam, there is no way we would fly a plane like that in Australia. Anything that had been left that long would be full of Red Backs and huge hairy Huntsmen. That fourth view is a real ripper though.
  17. Great atmosphere in these splendid nocturnal images Darryl.
  18. A wonderful set Paul and a informative introduction too. I like your PA-30 as well, a pleasant colour scheme.
  19. Cheers Mike, happy you liked it.
  20. I can remember when they christened a new plane by pouring champers over the nose. As can be seen in the third view, now they send out a flock of feral pigeons to do the job, literally! Beautiful images as usual Adam and a fine looking plane, but I will watch from the ground!
  21. Thanks Paul, It is not a bad part of the world to reside in. As flat as a sh*t carters hat but only 2 hours from Melbourne and that little bit cooler than the N W of the state where I lived before.
  22. Orbx Content: AU Australia V2 Hand up who thought there was going to be an image of the legendary four engined bomber! Below the Auster's tail is the small locality of Lancaster with a population of 393. It was named after Thomas Lancaster who was an early settler and his son Samuel was a state pollitician. Other than that the local football club has been Premiers 8 times of the Kyabram and DIstrict Football League since it was founded in 1932. To the right is Kyabram, behind the tail is Merrigum and above is Waranga Dam which provides irrigation for the area's agriculture. BTW this is country Victoria, 30km from where I live.
