An early morning trip to Cairns after the ORBX Arborlist visited

An early morning flight into Cairns from Mareeba (YMBA) to arrive in a newly forrested world.

 

1. Approaching Cairns from the North

 

2. ILS GS approach into runway 15

 

3. Taxing onto the GA apron on the Western side of the Airport

 

4. The first sun is hittling the top of Mt Whitfield

 

5. First view of some trees close up.

 

6. But I guess we had better get into the Mountains in a Heli to get a better look

 

7. Climbing up over Mt Whitfield

 

8. Next its down to the Pontoon near the Casino to pick up some PAX

 

9. Then we pass close by Trinity Wharf

 

10. Then its up well into the Mountains behind Cairns. (Very impressed with the trees here lol)

 

11. 3500' up and there is plenty of Tropical growth to be found

 

12. Back down to the coast north of Cairns over the cane fields surrounding the Barron River

 

13. Looking down along the meandering Moon River as we approach Yorkeys Knob

 

14. Then its a manual ILS approach to runway 15

 

15.To finish the morning with a bit of a look around. Be in the S--t if we ditched here!

17. A close up of the old Bush Pilot Airways "Bushies" C-47A that used to be on a pole here.

Sadly it was taken down in Sept 2008 to undergo a safety inspection. It was then cut up

with the Nose being preserved at the NQ Warbirds museum at Mareeba Airport.

Hey antonvs I noticed in your signature you have Orbx Au and vector. I thought that with the Au region vector is incorporated into the product. Is this correct or do you need vector as well for all the roads and high ways?

Beautiful shots and also beautiful and full scenery!

 

God! Land the helicopter on the pier pad... very very dificult: few visual cues beneath the chopper (from into the cockpi)! But very nice do it...

Hey antonvs I noticed in your signature you have Orbx Au and vector. I thought that with the Au region vector is incorporated into the product. Is this correct or do you need vector as well for all the roads and high ways?

Hi Dano, with a closer look at my sig you can see that I have all FTX regions as well as Global base, OpenLC EU and Vector so Vector gives me world wide detail whether or not I happen to be in a FTX Region. I hope that helps, otherwise check the pinned docs that explain it more fully.
