Porky Pete flies again.

G-AREK was an ATL-98 Carvair of British Air Ferries.

An afternoons spotting at Hurn in the early 70s was always highlighted by the arrival of a Carvair, usually of a freight run from Gurensey. After offloading it's cargo, either of tomatos or flowers the Carvair made a spectacular noisy take off.

This was my favourite BAF livery which was replaced by a mostly bare metal livery in the mid 70s.

Porky Pete has been resurrected to make the flight from Guernsey to Bournemouth.

Beautiful shots.

Once (a long time ago) I saw this aircraft in Italy, Fiumicino airport - LIRF - that opportunity she was being loaded with a Ferrari.

I could not watch her well: I was part of a flight squadron, and we were in a hurry to go to Lyon, France.

Thanks, mate, for those memories!

Cheers,

PS: BTW, the shots above sea were stunning!

What a great set these are.

cheers

Iain

An odd and unusual aircraft, nice shots of it and the scenery.

That's a great set. The shape of this aircraft is unbelievable. So funny looking, yet practical.

Ah, the 747's ancestor :)

Nice pics of an interesting plane!

Cheers

Your ground details are amazing (as long as you are at reasonable altitude), Martyn, congrats. Plus, a nice motorhome incl. the small commuter.

Pete looks just fine , and so do these shots .

Cheers

Brad

Great shots! Aesthetically speaking, it's an odd aircraft.  :)
