VH-KDK Posted May 9, 2014 Share Posted May 9, 2014 G-AREK was an ATL-98 Carvair of British Air Ferries. An afternoons spotting at Hurn in the early 70s was always highlighted by the arrival of a Carvair, usually of a freight run from Gurensey. After offloading it's cargo, either of tomatos or flowers the Carvair made a spectacular noisy take off. This was my favourite BAF livery which was replaced by a mostly bare metal livery in the mid 70s. Once (a long time ago) I saw this aircraft in Italy, Fiumicino airport - LIRF - that opportunity she was being loaded with a Ferrari. I could not watch her well: I was part of a flight squadron, and we were in a hurry to go to Lyon, France. Thanks, mate, for those memories! Cheers, PS: BTW, the shots above sea were stunning!
