I am a Electronic Specialist for a Japanese owned company in the Charlotte, NC area. My 2nd job is as the owner/operator of Grannys Studio. A full service recording studio that offers digital mulitracking, mastering, sound design and video services. I also have been playing drums for 39 years and am currently playing in a Blues/Rock band on weekends. I live in the great state of South Carolina. My studio website is: www.grannysstudio.com Flightsim: A good friend and myself have been flying simulators since Microsoft Flight Simulator 95 and before that we also enjoyed playing a wire-frame simulator of the A-10 Warthog Plane back in the late 80's. We started a clan years ago called, SAC for the FPS game, Call of Duty and Battlefield and we have now changed that to "SANDHILLS AIR CARGO"......We still use the same logo we used back then. I am Alf from Härnösand, Sweden and 50 years old! I have been using Flightsim for more than 10 years now and all began with FS98! I am running a virtual airline with a friend from the year of 2006! We do multiplayer flight last Sunday every month and I plan all flights etc! In real life I have been doing some flying in a Scheibe 25SF motorglider for some years but not anymore! I do lots of VFR flying in the PNW and near Olympic Mountians in Washington state, USA! Port Angeles and Lake Cushman are my favourite places and the reason is that I have been there and have relatives in Port Angeles and Hoodsport! The scenery from FTX/ORBX are awesome! I have been flying on FSX for around 4 years or so , and over the years have been upgrading my set up. My favourite route to fly in the sim would have to be YSSY-YMML, flying in the PMDG NGX, which is an amazing aircraft IMHO. Around 2 months ago I went for my first flying lesson at Camden Airport in a Cessna 182 from Airborne Aviation. It was one of, if not the best experiences I have ever had. My next one is in a few weeks, this time in a 172, like the rest of them will be. One day I aspire to fly for the airlines. Would love to one day sit in the cockpit of a commercial flight landing, but as of the situation at the moment about air safety this is unlikely to happen! Here is me on my first flying lesson! After that flight, I was hooked forever. Senior year of high school I quite the Lacrosse team and took up flying lessons at Lane Community College. I ran out of money about 5 hours short of my private, thus it took two years to complete. Since then I have logged about 50 hours, most of which are flying with the University of North Dakota Flying Team. We fly two Cessna 150s in spot landing events, and I will be competing nationally at Kansas State University in the spring. i am an Air Traffic Control major, but will be entering the Navy next year as an Aviator. I am hoping to fly the Legacy Hornet, but would gladly take the Super Hornet as well. I started flying on flight sim with Flight Sim 98, and still remember how excited I was to find that CTRL + E started the engines! I joined the VATSIM network in 2004, where I have resided as an instructor at the Seattle ARTCC, among other various positions. This first picture is of me at the Fargo airshow this past summer, and the second is of me at the award banquet for the region 5 Flying competition last October. Had to be from somewhere. Origin Of nickname: Fairchild C-119 Boxcar was a favorite aircraft of mine while growing up in central Indiana. Flight Sim: Starting over 30 years ago with the Timex Sinclair & it's teeny flight simulator. About me: Born in Beech Grove, Indiana on Indianapolis' south side. All primary school years spent in Greenfield before joining the USAF in '72, becoming a hypobaric chamber technician (alitutude chamber) giving pilots & flight crews training in simulated high altitude conditions, hypoxia, egress, etc., subsequently transfering to Beale AFB with the Lockheed SR-71 program as a pressure suit technician. Honorably discharged in '76, my wife at the time & I riding my Honda 550 all of the way back to Indiana. Had first worked for my home town's Park & Recreation Department as Program Supervisor, then driving for Greyhound Lines from '80 until '87 when the company was sold. Though no college, had begun to paint as an artist & 2 years later was awarded a national 1st place & Silver Medal in the late Arts For The Parks international competition & tour for my painting, "On The Edge Of Time", a work depicting the south rim of Grand Canyon looking east from Hopi Point (pic below). It was my first art competition. Built my career until experiencing my "calamity" in '96 of a massive strep infection that got into my brain & very nearly killed me, coming 3 to 4 hours from the point of no return. Wound up in a state veterans home for over 4 years while recovering much of my health, making over 250,000 crepe paper poppies for the American Legion as well as teaching other vets how to make them. Had discharged myself from the veterans home in '01 just weeks after the 9-11 demolitions, accepting an opportunity in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Lived in the Nebraska panhandle for nearly a decade until relocating to Oregon in September of '10, presently living near the junction of Oregon, Idaho & Washington within range of the biggest trench of the lower 48 (about 300 meters deeper than Grand Canyon). One son from my first marriage, no children from my second, being single again for 3 years now. They say the 3rd time is the charm. Flight Simulators are my hobby & therapy as well as receiving instruction through interactive simulations. Backpacking is also a favorite activity. . Am the one the left. If you count F-19 Stealth Fighter on the C64 then I even owned a sim before that. Lines, pyramids and boxes... RL Flying Experience: 20hrs on Cessna 150/152 at Manston, Kent waaay back in 1995. Since then, mainly gliding, but would love to finish my PPL if and when I can afford it! More about me: Born Auckland, NZ, moved with my family to England when I was very young, grew up in Surrey and moved to Bristol for university.
