Popular Post Orbx
We are pleased to announce that one of the most scenic airports in Alaska has finally found its way to Microsoft Flight Simulator - PADU Unalaska Airport! This is the latest from Matteo Venanziani whose previous works include Burbank, Skiathos and Van Nuys for Microsoft Flight Simulator. PADU is located on Unalaska Bay on the Aleutian Island of Umaknak and is sometimes referred to as Dutch Harbor Airport. It was renamed "Tom Madsen Airport" in honour of a bush pilot who was killed in an aeroplane accident in 2022. The airport features a short 4,500ft runway bordered on one side by a steep drop-off into the ocean and a hill to the North. With the ocean at both runway ends, this airport presents a very challenging approach and landing. Considering that 1/5th of all flights are cancelled due to the weather and short runway, Unalaska Airport is not for the faint-hearted! In addition to the airport that has been beautifully recreated by Matteo, the entire town has been modelled as well as historical landmarks such as Holy Ascension Orthodox Church and WWII remnants on Bunker Hill. At a glance Full Unalaska airport in high detail and beautiful texture work Complete reproduction of the entire city and harbours with custom buildings High quality photoreal Custom groundpoly and taxisigns Optional statics

mopperle
A very nice scenery, often flew in P3D there. Only one suggestions: IMHO there are in several areas too much trees.

Tim
That looks excellent! I'm really looking forward to it. Great that Orbx is finally creating some new Alaskan airfields for MSFS. I always enjoy watching "Deadliest Catch" so that scenery looks very familiar. Is the harbor of the crab fishing vessels part of this scenery as well? BlueFinn
I was just looking at this airport last week thinking that I wish someone would do a payware version of it, very much looking forward to this!
Dusterman
Great addition. Now all we need is a Lockheed Electra L-188 in Reeves Aleutian Airways colors to fly to Dutch Harbor. Check out the story of Reeve Flight 8 for the aircraft and pilots who flew back in the day.

I was lucky enough to ride in an Electra L-188 Reeves Aleutian Airways aircraft in 1970 and 1971 while stationed at NAS Adak, AK. Met Mr Reeves at a dinner on the island. On my way home from Adak to separate from the Navy his wife was on board and served us home made lasagna! Sat near the rear door and can't forget the sound of the screws in the floor trim rattling/vibrating...lol.
