Touring in the Cradle Mountain area

Stillwater

Recommended Posts

Todays program is just a short hop for a pilot, but a giant hike for the walker. From the campgrounds at Cradle Mountain airstrip...

... up Cradle Mountain Road...

... to Dove Lake parking. Meanwhile the car access is limited, once it´s reached full capacity you´d better take the bus to get here.

That was easier 18 years ago. But we had to face the usual weather.

A hard climb uphill leads you to Marions Lookout, overlooking the entire Dove Lake. We walked around it, but couldn´t climb up in the old times, so this lookout is still on the list...

Nice shots Gerold, love the chopper.

Only 2 days out of summer and we have already had a

dusting of snow on the Highlands. We had hail here

yesterday with a brief cold snap following an ordinary Summer.:(

As you know in Tas, you don't go up to the Highlands unprepared no matter

what time of year it is.

cheers

Terrific Tourism Takes and I admire your eggbeater talents (must learn to operate one of those things)

Thousand Thanks To you, TT.

Money helps to fly these moving wing things: The add-on ones are much easier to control than the FSX/P3D default ones.

Brrr, that sounds cold, Gumby. I have been in Tas in March and April and have always used a big variation of jackets...

Our next visit is planned in November, do you think that is safe enough to avoid slippery rocks?

No guarantee when it comes to slippery rocks Gerold.

However Nov was a warm month here then it all went down hill

during Summer. 7.30 am here as I write and its 5deg c heading for 20deg.

Similar temps up here currently, from 2°C in the morning to sunny 16 or so. And getting better.

Good to learn that a warm November is possible in Tas, but one never knows...
