The big and swift Brisbane River, once full of small craft working up with the tide to the sugar refinery, woolstores and Powerhouse near the city centre: these old and large buildings now converted to trendy apartments. At the mouth of the river is Fisherman's Island now transformed from a home for midges and mosquitoes to a container wharf and soon a new cruise terminal....the larger ships can no longer get under the first bridge. To the north of the river mouth is Brisbane airport which is getting a new parallel runway. And to the south, the Gold Coast .... home. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
