bernd1151
I have to admit that the more I fly in Alaska, the more addictive this gets Wien Alaska Air never flew Ju 52s, they used Ford Trimotors among other planes in the 1930s in Alaska. But as I have flown Fords fairly often these last days, I slapped the original NC-9418 Wien Trimotor registration on a Ju 52. Now Wien flies Junkers too. Todays trip will bring us from Anchorage to Gulkana (PAGK), which lies some 190 m NE of Anchorage. Our cargo is a load of deer Reindeer to be more precise J The old lady takes slowly and gracefully to the skies. The weather forecast didn’t look too bad, but at this time of year you never know in Alaska It doesn’t get much better than this Ooops, weather ahead. I hope the deer can take it Now what?? Let’s climb out of here Approaching Gulkana The landing was smooth, but boy oh boy, it will take days to get that smell out of the cabin again

VH-KDK
Wonderful set of shots Bernd. Great old aircraft with some spectacular scenery. An unusual cargo you have on board, as far as the pong goes it is something I have always wondered about when animals are carried on cargo planes. I saw the shot of the deer and immediately this sprang to mind. They earlier hit a deer and put the dead animal on the back seat.
bernd1151
Thank you all very much for your kind comments and thank you Martyn for that great movie clip. Hillarious. Luckily the Ju doesn't have a soft top
andy1252
Lovely set, Bernd. I have to say I do prefer the "tante-Ju" to the Ford, don't know why as they are pretty similar. And Alaska does seem a fine place to fly.
olderndirt
Nowadays those caribou would have had to check their antlers at TSA. A great idea and very well done.
