German National Parks: Part 2

The voyage to the 16 national parks within german borders continues.

This time the biggest challenge was finding interesting motives since there is not that much to see. Why that is the case you'll find out in a moment.

Let's continue with the 3 national parks that cover almost the entirety of the german north sea coast, with the exception of the big shipping lanes from Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven.

Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park

Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park

and Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park

These could be basicaly just one park, but since national parks are not maintained by the federal government but rather the federal states, the wadden sea coast has been divided in 3 Parks, one for each of the states that it is bordering on.

The biggest challenge here is, that the tidal cycle is not existant in simulator and therefore it is always high tide. But during high tide the bulk of landmass in these parks is more or less invisible.

ORBX have included watermasks that hint on which part of the sea you can actually walk on during low tide.

The final park that is completely within the FTX covered area is

Harz National Park

The first one of those I showed you so far were I have actually been in reality.

Beautiful shots, I would love to hike in those forests, it must be quite serene.

When we drove through the park, friends of mine who had visited British Columbia compared the experience of driving through endless pine forests.

Smaller scale, but similarities in landscape.

I really enjoyed it there. Of the great german secondary mountain ranges, the only one that surpasses this is the Black Forrest. Which is much bigger, but not as sparsely populated.
