Jack Sawyer
Had the weather on and off as it was so cloudy I couldn't see the scenery. I landed at several airports. Departed NXGB > NZAA > NZAR > NZWT > NZTG When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…. Did a flyby at Auckland Landed at NZAR Love those hangars! Coming into NZWT, a grass strip Heading to NZTG What's this? Lumber? I could use some… My wife and I looked up NZ cruises, holy molly, lots of $$$ This is a very nice airport. Anyone know where I can buy some fuel? Thanks for watching, Jack formerly known as JS07…

Planned a trip from MA-WV-UN-WT (and return) once, but weather held me back. Maybe I'll sim it over the weekend. I'm medically grounded at the moment due to recent laser eye surgery, so no IRL flying for me ... just the sim for the next couple of months. Some decidedly mediocre flying, but some good views of a handful of NZ strips in some of my RL YouTube vids here... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8YkYBJQYpGKXCfOVgb4v2g You can be MA, RA, TE, TK, TG, NP and (obviously) the general scenery and weather of Central North Island Waikato. Enjoy... -- Jeff

Yup, wouldn't be any screenshots with the weather that bad. 2 hours ago, gumbypickett said: Another super set of shots, your really enjoying the yellow canary. cheers Gumby I sure am Gumby, it feels good to fly without autopilot and navigate with maps and VOR's. Been a long time away from "old" steam. 2 hours ago, andy1252 said: Lovely stuff, Jack! Thanks Andy!

jpreou
While weather apps give us better than default here in NZ we never get 'real-world' weather since we simply don't have enough METAR stations here accessible by apps like REX or ASN. We have a couple of METARS and if you are local to those it might be ok, but if you are somewhere in between like Hamilton (NZHN) then the sim weather is unlikely to match the outside RL weather. I've been sim flying when outside it is 35kts, belting rain, black clouds and thunderstorms and only seen rain and 7/8 cloud in the sim. Could be my settings, I guess; I run reasonably default in ASN. Of course, NZ is the home of 10-minute weather and all seasons in one day, so its always a bit of a lottery anyway!
