Miles Hawk Speed 6 in Denmark

A change of pace from flying airliners and a different era too.

Took the Miles Hawk Speed 6 for a journey out of Albany.

Took off  from the active runway and very nearly  didn't get too far.

Met this bloke coming the other way, lucky I took evasive action.

Heading for the coast and then going to turn west.

Wilson Inlet at Denmark.

Ocean Beach.

Parry Beach.

Eagle Nest.

Oh I nearly forgot, Denmark Western Australia, a very picturesque flight.

G-ADOD was the Speed 6 flown by Arthur Clouston  in the Schlesinger Air Race from Portsmouth to Johannesburg in 1936. He got close to Salisbury, Rhodesia when he crash landed due to engine failure. His book Dangerous Skies is a captivating read, one of those books I never get tired of reading.

Always these amateurs flying across our pathways with their tiny aircrafts... good that you managed to avoid him, Martyn!

I have never seen Denmark so lovely, but thanks for revealing the precise location at the end of your post...

Well it was lucky that at least I saw him.

Denmark, apparently, is beautiful  this time of year. I was going to drop in, I am sure there is an Ozx airport there, but then I realised I was not using FSX which has all the OZx airports installed.

Thanks for this bit of history mate, I was born and bread in Salisbury Rhodesia. Came to Oz when I was 17 in '83, just realised I'm 50 this year!!!! Fantastic shots mate.

No worries Graeme, A.E.Clouston's book Dangerous Skies is well worth a read if you can pick up a copy.

When I saw the title and the shots , I thought maybe there is something about this global warming that we have to worry about . Denmark W.A. - new one on me .

Cheers

John

Thanks John, I think I am too old now to worry about climate change. It is meant to be a very nice part of the world, but I doubt if I will ever get there.
