SQ227, completed

Stillwater

Recommended Posts

As you may have read, I was struggling in getting the time setting right for this flight when trying to shortcut it from Broome only. So my task for the weekend was clear: Depart correctly at Singapore, and find out how sun settings and light conditions change during the flight.

I started flight preparations after a "long turnover" 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, which is 21:15 hrs. I am too slow for a professional, so I took off with 8 minutes delay, shame on me.

Not much to see outside, but the pilots have enough to watch.

Equator crossing. Still during climb, with the center tanks almost empty already.

Closing in to Oodnadatta gets us the first sunlight. No way to see the Broome coast or Uluru during this flight  ??? .

Wake up mates, breakfast is served! PMDG did not pay too much attention on the interior design, but that compromise is well done.

Get your stuff, ...

... and walk towards immigration, into a land down under.

PS: I opened the doors at the gate with 5 minutes delay to the official SQ schedule. Maybe I need to look for vacancies at other companies?

I guess I was on that overnight flight when I first came to Australia. Singapore to Melbourne with the best airline of the world. But it was a B747 back then. I departed to Hong Kong on a Cathay A340.

Very nice pics. And don't worry, I had a 30 minutes delay back then, which I didn't mind as Changhi is fantastic.

Top stuff Gerold.

A long flight like that and only 18 shots, you have more self control than me.

Flown this route with SQ several times on 744s,773s and A380s and then on up to Bangkok on the 772 and last time A330.

SQ is the best airline I have flown with ( Lauda a very close  second)  and you replicated the flight really well.

Maybe the attractions of Changi were the reason for the paxes slow boarding. In that case my delay would be excused...

I loved the shots Gerold , but don't give up your day job just yet . ???:o

Cheers

Brad

Ok, ok, I won´t apply with Ryanair.

Ancient singles to huge Passenger A/C..There truly is no stopping you is there Gerold? As always, magic stuff old mate..Teecee.

... and the 777 is a pleasure to fly, after a bit of reading & learning....!

1) The total darkness made it easier to take fewer shots. Plus, I skipped a number of cockpit and passenger view shots here... So it was not my self control, but other factors.

2) Whatever plane you fly, if you can do it with SQ you are lucky.

3) When I flew to OZ the first times it was always Lauda. Unforgettable, due to the quality of their personal service. I think I still have some of their caps. And the Do & Co catering ... heavenly  ::) !

Superb shots these.

cheers

Iain
