VH-KDK
Ok so I had AU$12 burning a hole in my pocket and decided to see what the Virtavia Vought Cutlass is like. I like the old jets so this is right up my street. Being an FS2004 plane it is not as sophisticated as todays fare but what do you expect for the price. 1. Departing Hachinohe in Japan. 2. Watching the AoA as the Cutlass can be very unforgiving. 3. In RL this was a highly unsuccessful carrier aircraft. 4. Many test and service pilots lost their lives in accidents. 5. They were only in service between 1954-57. 6. The Cutlass was very underpowered. 7. Over 1/4 of the 320 built were lost in accidents. 8. Radical design and unreliable engines made the Cutlass a dangerous aircraft. 9. The J35 engine was prone to flame out in the rain. 10. It's underpowered engines made carrier take offs precarious. 11.2 were used by the Blue Angels as demonstration aircraft but both made emergency landings on separate occasions. 12.One Blue Angel emergency resulted in the Cutlass being the first aircraft to land on Chicago O'Hare's new runway. This is a fun aircraft to fly so if you are looking for a interesting old jet that is rather cheap this would be a great buy. Now for something different. I had not heard of the Google Project Loon. Was looking for my grand daughters plane on Flightradar24 this morning when a round symbol caught my eye. Her Thai 777 is just above the words Java Sea. Very surprised when the details came up and astounded by the project . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Loon I did try to read the Google Project Loon site but gave up after being bombarded with unwanted messages. Google, all I wanted to do was read about your interesting project and not get annoying rubbish every time I clicked on an item > .

rick66
Google Loon is a project aimed at giving remote areas access to fast wifi/internet, its very much at its infancy testing stage. I followed the Balloons here in Queensland for a few months and also witness a launch in Western Qld whilst working, they climb up to and above FL680(which is space i think...lol) Rick

Stillwater
Great history lesson of the Cutlass, and I am glad you survived your flight (and I expect the Thai 777 did the same).
