British Airways L1011 Inbound to Southampton, England

Recommended Posts

Hi, here is a landing tried at Southampton with the L1011. Surprisingly, this beast lands in such a small distance that I could exit on the taxiway without doing a 180, after landing on runway 20. If you're asking yourself what is the purpose to land a L1011 is Southampton, there are two answers: first, it's fun. Second, Orbx does not develop an international airport with a very long runway in England and I'm not sure I could show, on this forum, Heathrow Intl made by a third party. So here it is.

Runway 20 straight ahead, right on the approach for now.

A successful landing also requires to avoid the total destruction of the approach lights...

I haven't calculated the distance between the threshold of rwy 20 and the taxiway, but it doesn't seem to be a lot. I never thought the L1011 could land on a short distance like that. Today, there is an 11 knots winds, 20 degrees crosswind to help for the landing.

Just looking for a little parking here. I think it can be done without hurting the neighbour.
