New Zealand should be interesting to do.8)

As for the next area of NA, I suggest going to the Canadian Rockies and the area east of PNW, which should cover towns like Banff and Jasper. It's a beautiful area and would look amazing with OrbX doing it. Another area could be California and the desert areas around Arizona and Nevada. Anyway, those are my suggestions.

I'm a newbie in these parts, and I'll gladly scarf up NZ when it's released to start learning the area there.  Just a scant 4 months ago, I'd have never believed that I would have ever fallen in love with Tasmania - but go figure.

Here's hoping that California is on the ORBX short list as well.  It'd mate up with PNW, plus it has nearly every kind of scenery to offer stand-alone purchasers - rock and sand coastal, farmland, deserts, mountains.  Most importantly, it'd give me a good kick in the rear to get serious about doing something with airport scenery design besides moving stock objects over a Google Earth background.

So when is PNW due to be released; did anyone say??  ;D

Im glad more North America is being seriously considered.  Thats good news.

I personally never cared much about Alaska and if we have a similar environment covered in PNW then maybe something else should be considered.

Im partial to the Smoky Mountains area east to the Chesapeake Bay.  It could include east Tennessee, east Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and maybe New Jersey.  I think thats not too much bigger than AU Gold but I dont really know.

I think its fairly important to do something more in the Northern Hemisphere.  I hardly ever even went to Australia before FTX but now I fly there  quite a bit but mostly when the USA turns ugly with its winter textures.

It'd be nice to be able to fly in the north or south with FTX.

Florida and southern Georgia and southern Alabama are another possibility but it is quite flat.  The beaches of the Florida panhandle and southern Alabama are really nice though with white sand and emerald green water.

I'd like to see the US coverage area extend downwards to California and some desert regions to make one varied continuous area to fly in.

Then NZ, which would be awesome too, and perhaps some tropical islands north of Aus or NZ :)...

Looking forward to PNW, no 'progress bar' for any products visible any more I see. Hmmm....Well, there are a lot of choices for Xmas if PNW doesn't come out, but it would be nice... :)

Awesome great choice New Zealand. Southern Alps, Milford Sound will be great places to fly. North Island Rotarua, Coramandel looking forward to flying from Thames to Waiheki then onto Aukland.

Have put it on my wish list for next year. But then whichever country Orbx had decided on was going on my wish list.

Keep up the good work and thanks

Interesting..and looking forward to it.

Looks like we will have two packages from two different developers to choose from for NZ..its either a feast or a famine but NZ badly needs something to gte rid of the brown yuk.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

FTX NZ FTW!

I seriously just can't  wait! Thanks ORBX!

If you guys are doing some NZ airports I would suggest Queenstown, Tauranga and Auckland Intl.

ps: look at my username. notice the 'nz'?  ;D

Why do Tauranga when its already been done well by RealNZ? ..and they are also working on an Auckland Airport package.

Queenstown would be a good choice ..great scenery, jets and GA etc etc..maybe tie it up with the nearby Milford Sound airport which offers very interesting approaches and spectacular scenery

Twelve reasons why FTX New Zealand will make for great flight simming.

I took these pictures yesterday while flying a Tecnam right around the Coromandel peninsula in the North Island of NZ.

The flight took just over two hours with stops at Pauanui and Whitianga.

The airfield visible in one of the pix is Coromandel, a tight strip with hills at one end and the sea at the other.

Apologies for some of the reflections but had to shoot through the perspex.

Nah...your havin us on Frank. I don't know where you got that model with the cool VC and DX 10 cockpit shadows but that's certainly Active X sky I can see, and as for that the scenery, well.....it's definitely an early FTX NZ demo......;D

Edit: On a more serious note, what's that hanging down in the top left corner of the last photograph?

You're right Alex.

I've flown there a few times recently, typically depart Thames (where the Tecnam is based), fly across the Firth of Thames to Kaiaua, track along the coast to North Head and then through the transit lane to North Shore.

From North Shore I fly across to the west coast at Muriwai and track the coastline to somewhere abeam of Glenbrook and then across the Waikato back to Thames.

It's a very scenic flight, just have to avoid straying into the Whenuapai and Auckland control zones though.

Last time I did it I came across a glider that was ridge soaring at Piha.

Will take some pix next time and post them.
