Hey Jason I have one of your Argonauts Pt 2

VH-KDK

Recommended Posts

The 2nd instalment of a flight from Queenstown to Christchurch.

The C-4 was also classified DC-4M. This appears to mean that it was a Merlin engine DC-4 but this is not the case. Canadair took over the project from Canadian Vickers. The C-4 had Merlin engines, DC-6 nose, undercarriage, fuselage shortened by 2m, the DC-4 empennage, rear fuselage, flaps, wingtips, C-54 middle fuselage, centre and outer wing and pressurised cabin.

Quite a successful aircraft the last one was retired in 1975. The main problem was the excessive cabin noise from the Merlin engines.

Great shots. I love this old company name BOAC.

Fantastic flight....that New Zealand scenery is just brilliant too.

I'm not much for the big multi-engine planes...but I like the look of this one quite a bit.

Great shots and narration of the 2nd of your trip Martyn.

Great shots and tour Martyn .

Brad

Very nice shots, beautiful scenery and plane!

Thanks for the comment.

I can see you had real problems thinning out your selection! Beautiful series - classic aircraft in a classic setting!

Thinning....what thinning??? NO problems at all.

Thanks Adam. If your country wasn't so bloody beautiful I wouldn't have to take so many caps. :D
