A Swiss Tiger in Austria

LOWI (Innsbruck) is one of my all time favourite Orbx airports. It is situated in western Austria, a couple of miles from the centre of Innsbruck.

Innsbruck is the provincial capital of Tyrol and the fifth-largest city in Austria by population. It is situated in the valley of Inn river between mountain ranges. This beautiful alpine destination, with breathtaking scenery, and snow-capped mountains, is a favourite winter sports destinations. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. Also, it hosted Winter Paralympics in 1984 and 1988.

The F-18 aircraft is from  Fliegerstaffel 11 (Fighter squadron 11) (Tigers) of the Swiss Air Force. The special markings were for the 2018 'Tiger Meet'.

Tiger Meets are held annually and are attended by NATO combat aviation squadrons with a Tiger on their shields.

Wonderful images Paul from one of the top sim locations.

The livery is a great change from the expected black and yellow tiger stripes.

It looks similar to a Frontier jet  would wear but of course they don't have tigers in the US!

Great shots Paul and thank for advertising my hometown so enthusiastically. That's much appreciated. Would you like to have a job at Tourism Innsbruck?:D

Thank you Wolfgang :). Perhaps a job at the airport then? ;)

BTW, I think you missed my post 'In Austria' (on page 5 here now)?

It was you who motivated me to make that flight.

I agree Paul.  In mu opinion I've always thought LOWI to be the benchmark to compare all others to.  Wonderful shots.

Thank you Jack :). Indeed LOWI was top of the class when released.

superb set of shots Paul, that airport is great on approach when you're flying in on a bus or 737 and there's a bit of low cloud, even though it's a sim still get a kick out of coming through the clouds and seeing the runway.....

Thank you Wayne :). Indeed, that brings back memories of my FS2002/4 flying. I added a good clouds package and would often just repeats flights where I broke through the clouds and saw the runway. A novelty value at the time.
