There is a ride at Disney called 'Soaring' that uses this exact type of technology! For that attraction, it works really well. You actually do smell the scent of flowers and oranges as your are 'gliding' over different scenes across varied terrain. In one scene you are 'soaring' over a sea cliff, and not only do you smell the ocean air, but you also feel a light mist from the waves crashing on the rocks. Pretty cool ride. Not so sure how good this idea would translate at home though....don't think I want mist being sprayed all over my multi-thousand dollar sim setup :D

Yeah, or imagine flying over a waste dump, sewage works or a hydrogen sulfide gas exhaling volcanic area. Yuck! ^_^

This, I have experienced whilst living in Hawaii. Lots of pleasant, tropical smells to be had there, but the volcanic debris and smells that wafted from the big island I could do without :)
