VH-KDK
The second stage of my flight along the Rhine Gorge looking at the various POIs. FTX GES, Trees, P3DV4, Freeware DR400, REX TD EE, PTA with Adams Preset. 1. Burg Stahlek. 2. Pfalzgraftenstein Castle dates from 1326 and was built as a Toll Castle. 3. Additions were made in 1607 and 1755. Unlike other castles in the area this one was never destroyed. 4. Schloss Gutenfels dates from 1220 and is another Toll Castle. It is now a privately owned hotel. 5. Burg Katz was constructed in 1371 but destroyed by Napoleon in 1806. 6. Rebuilt in 1896 in is now privately owned. 7. Rheinfels Castle is the largest castle in the Middle Rhine. It is mostly ruined today but some of the outer buildings are occupied. 8. Rheinfels dates from 1245 and was destroyed by the French in 1797. 9. At Wellmich is Burg Maus. Work began in 1356 and it fell into disrepair in the 16th and 17th centuries. 10. Mouse Castle was rebuilt by 1906 before being damaged in WW2. It was restored again and today has an aviary containing many types of raptors and is open to visitors. 11. Here are Bergs Sterrenberg and Leibenstein, the latter dating from 1284. 12. Sterrenberg is known to have existed in 1034 and some of the castle from the 13th century have survived. 13. The historical town of Boppard. Hope you have enjoyed this part of the flight.

Jack Sawyer
Nice Martyn, I'm a little late to the party. Paulb sent me a link to the top 10 castles in Germany and I meticulously typed out each coordinate and was going to visit them. I think I still will but with a chopper like I said in an earlier post. Love your historical descriptions!
