Leaving KSMN, Salmon ID, for a tryout of the Bearcat. No set destination, just going to fly and enjoy myself.

2.bc2.jpg

An unusual effect between the two cloud layers.

3.bc3.jpg

Broken through the clouds and looking at Saturday Mountain in the distance, Chllis NP.

4.bc4.jpg

The Bitterroot Valley in Montana and the town of Ravalli.

5.bc5.jpg

Flying close to Quartz Ridge back into Idaho.

6.bc6.jpg

Decided to drop under the clouds and fly along the valleys.

7.bc7.jpg

Through the gloom lights appeared and after consulting the GPS I found that I was back at my starting point of Salmon! Not bad considering I had aimlessly flown around the mountains for 45 minutes. Spot the unusual legs on the Bearcat.

8.bc8.jpg

Too high and fast so an overshoot for another attempt.

9.bc9.jpg

Over Salmon.

10.bc10.jpg

Safely down after a very strange flight!

Hope you enjoyed the ride.

Great flight and some really nice shots there Martyn! :). I haven't flown the Bearcat for a while. Your post serves as a useful reminder ;).

Thanks Paul, glad you liked the set and also that I have stirred your memory.

That was cool Martyn, especially coming back to where you started.  Nice scenery along the way and I loved the weather too.

Thanks Jack and I could not believe that I ended up where I started from after a longish flight. I bet I could never do that again in 20 years! I even strayed into some OLC NA territory as I only had CRM installed in V4 then.

No destination, no flight plan, no visibility. That is a good pilot´s work!

That is the way I like to fly Gerold and sometimes when the viz is good I close my eyes.
