Actually, when the song came out, the Johnny Mathis version was the big hit. I was an all night Rock n' Roll disk jockey at a Top 40 Station in Cincinnati. I used to get phone calls from listeners all the time, but considering that the songs were so short, there was not much time to talk with them. However, there was one caller, a woman who was a telephone operator, at least that is what she told me. There never was anything freaky about it, but being so young, and she sounded at least ten years older, it is something that I still remember. For the record, we never met,  but when I was hired in the early 1960s, the radio station had studios in an older downtown hotel. As the all night DJ, I was the only one there in that part of the building. It was a little creepy from time to time...
