Don't war with the US

Brings home a couple of  my own experiences during the Vietnam war with an F-105 wing in Thailand.

While Johnson and McNamara were telling us there was no bomb shortage I was on a C-130 tying to scrounge up bombs from other bases so we could fly missions.  We were sending 4 Thuds out loaded with one bomb apiece so they could say they flew 4 sorties.  The normal load was six 750 pound bombs per aircraft.

Bombs were not the only thing in short supply.  We needed Allen wrenches to tighten the bolts that secured the tail fin to the bombs.  We could only get metric sizes and my load crews kept stripping them or filing them down.  I wrote to my brother and told him to go to Sears and buy a dozen of the size we needed and he sent them to me.  For a while we were the only base in Thailand that had the proper size tool.
