This flight is from Roatan in the Bay Islands to Toncontin Honduras.

1.RT1.jpg

Taking of from a very overcast Roatan which is part of Honduras.

2.RT2.jpg

French Harbour.

3.RT3.jpg

After flying in almost unbroken cloud the skies clear to reveal Pico Bonito, Honduras. With such mountains and bad weather I hope the flight planners have got it right.

4.RT4.jpg

5.RT5.jpg

In the area of Calpules I encounter the heaviest rain I can remember in FS.

6.RT6.jpg

More rain and more mountains over the Montana de Yoro NP.

7.RT7.jpg
Descending into Toncontin.

8.RT8.jpg

The city of Tegucigalpa comes into view.

9.RT9.jpg

10.RT10.jpg

Used every inch of the runway on landing.

11.RT11.jpg

Made it down in one piece ready to fly another day.

Hope you enjoyed the flight.

Looks to me like a Virtualcol Saab 340. Certainly a Saab 340 of some sort.

Super shots, in any case.,

Sure is, one of my favourites. Used to fly the REX 340s quite often from Mildura to Melbourne and sometimes onto Tassie.

You certainly do find some interesting areas to fly Martyn - always inspiring. By the way, what plane?

Thanks Graeme, as Mr Kiwi replied it is indeed the Virtualcol SAAB 340

Great & dangerous region to fly in, Martyn. Despite the good demonstration of IFR skills you give us an idea of OpenLC´s future...

Thanks Gerold. I chose something manageable  in the 340 as I felt a jet would be too much first time round,. That will come later.

A great trip report and shots Martyn, I love the narrative and how you fly in places I'd never dream of.  Glad you landed safely, a white knuckles trip!

Steve

Thank you Steve, it adds another alternative to the places I can visit, as if there aren't enough all ready.

Many thanks for your great comments, which are  really appreciated.
