Cumbrian/Caledonian Canberra

Mallard

Recommended Posts

I'm not getting much flying done these days - and it's almost impossible to catch up on commenting on the great screenies that have been posted over the last few days... So here is a blanket "Great pics!" ;)

But I did manage a flight yesterday, departing from Cardiff, heading north and finally touching down at Prestwick.

Not much to see at the outset. Date, yesterday, time 9:30 a.m., weather by ASN:

Thanks a lot for the comments...

Great Indian Summer tour, Mallard. Hope you find more time for posting & simming soon...  ::)

Sadly I'm still not getting much "air"time. A cat has moved in with me, the builders are here to put an extension out the back of the house, one of the bathrooms it being redone - and I have my "everyday" work... But I'm full of confidence that at least the middle two points will be over in the foreseeable future :)

Wonderful flight over the UK Mallard.

Great scenery and fine choice of aircraft.

Always been fascinated by the off set cockpit on both this version of the Canberra and some of the Sea Vixens also.

The offset cockpit really is a strange thing. I can't seem to find a real reason for why they built it that way and didn't just pull up a side-by-side cockpit. The bit about the earlier versions having entrance hatches on the starboard side and that they just didn't want to change too much in the way of the positioning of the controls doesn't sound too convincing to me.

Cheers

Mallard
