Another Big Australian Blunder
Rodger Pettichord replied to John Heaton's topic in The Neil Hill Memorial Lounge
The Japanese have learned how to eat puffer fish which are highly poisonous. Maybe Australians could find a way to make cane toads into a daring delicacy to sell to tourists in expensive restaurants? -
HNY from an anglophile Down Under

John, my wife and I join Karl in appreciating this very moving story. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. -
Happy New Year from Canada.

Happy new year to you too, neighbor. May your pelt stay slick. -
I get my comics from three sources, all online -- two online newspapers and a comic strip subscription service. My must-have strips are Pearls Before Swine, Tundra, Zits, Pickles, Calvin and Hobbs, Kliban, Frank and Ernest, and Peanuts. In reality, I daily enjoy several dozen strips plus numerous editorial cartoons. Gotta get my laughs in each day!

Hi all. 2024 promises to be a year of major weight -- political strife, financial uncertainty, military conflicts, and so forth. Under the load of all that, we need something to lighten the load. I'm a lifelong fan of newspaper comic strips and find them to be great antidotes to the serious news. Australia's Ginger Meggs. Scandinavia's Hälge the Moose, England's Andy Capp, the USA's Calvin and Hobbs, and many others bring a much appreciated bit of a grin to each day. And that leads to this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What comic strip(s) from your country do you recommend as fun to follow?

There was a time when Herb and Brass were on every station all the time. Thanks for the memories, Adam. -

Glad to see that you are on the upswing, Don. Merry Christmas to you and the furry family, and to all the furry Forum members! -
Hi all. "Joy to the world..." the Christmas hymn has it. For me as a religious person, Christmas joy is centered on the religious commemoration. For others, Christmas joy may center on friends, the community's holiday atmosphere, reunion with family, or other highlights. In any case, it's a great time of the year that offers a bit of a spark to us all. And that leads to tis week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What brings the spark of joy to your Christmas celebration?

Wayne, pumpkin pie is delicious. It's made with pureed pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. The distinctive pumpkin spice fragrance and taste have migrated into holiday flavoring for all sorts of other things, from coffee to ice cream. COSTCO makes a Thanksgiving/Christmas pumpkin pie that is the highlight of my culinary year.

The older I get the more I like this song.
Rodger Pettichord replied to flyingleaf's topic in The Neil Hill Memorial Lounge
First heard this song in Viet Nam. It meant a lot to a lot of guys and gals over there. Me too. Thanks, Karl. -
One of "my" mountains growing up. Looking from our house, St. Helens dominated our northeast, Baker's tip was visible, and Mt. Hood stood tall just to the southeast. It was great growing up in the Cascades. So, thanks for the memories, Karl, and a merry Canadian Christmas to you and yours. And to all the Forum folk.

Some groups manage to provide background music for all the major events of our lives. CSN is that one for me. Many, many memories. Thanks so much, Adam.
