1980 on an El Al B707 from Munich to Tel Aviv.
The security checks for this flight were incredible. Check in was in its own converted, heavily guarded hangar far away from the terminals. There was even a small tank (one of those with wheels) positioned outdide the hangar.
Within the hangar officers painstakingly checked every single passenger's item. They inspected every piece of clothing in the baggage, e.g. turned around every pair of socks, opened toothpaste caps, to check whats really inside. I had to make shots with my camera etc. There really was not one single item which was not inspected.
When we rolled to the TO runway, we ware accompanied by the small tank.
And I am pretty sure ,10 % of the passengers have been Mossad agents.
But in the end all this gave one a feeling of safety.

Hi Wayne, I think it just means the number of posts. You have 7,400 posts now, so 2,600 posts to go to 10,000. Once you reach 10,000 posts I believe your forum status/title goes up to VIP Member. You might see some people with less than 10,000 posts who already have the VIP Member title, and that usually indicates they were working in the background with Orbx at one time, ie as a beta tester.
And Rodger has been breveted to Life Member in honour of his outstanding contributilns to the forums.

Here's a tip... develop patterns of keys rather than words. Once you get used to it, all you have to remember is the first letter of the pattern, and the last, and your brain will fill in the rest. I use this, I have all my passwords written down on a piece of paper, but secure!
For instance, maybe you want Orbx passwords to start with O. Look at your keyboard. A pattern might be Oknbvc0864#*. You can write O* or O........ * on your cheat sheet, and as long as you remember the pattern, you can get your password.
Gets around all those password filters that reject words and number sequences too.
Some great tips here John.
But I think Cathy has not a problem remembering an already chosen password, but creating a valid password first off.

Well then chaps just back from the vets they have had Mr Rollo all day doing tests urine and bloods and scans on his liver and kidneys spleen and intestine everything came back all OK no sign of cancer or anything else wrong with him.
The vet said he is a healthy boy and that is the end of it if we find anything in future go back to the vet.
So it's fantastic news indeed for Mr Rollo after his scare the vet said it helped cutting out the mass as soon as we found it.
Now then back to normal for us all after all the worries we had over him and thanks for all the concerns from you chaps here it meant a lot to me and Ayiesha.
Cheers
Iain
These are fantastic news Iain.👍
Please pass on my congratulations to Mr Rollo.

I tell you what, as a platform for simulation of VFR GA flying, MSFS is streets ahead of the other two alternatives. Why?
Real world scenery throughout. It does make a big difference.
Much more realistic weather. In particular the pronounced effects that topography has on the airflow across the landscape. In moderate winds and mountainous terrain, in low powered aircraft you can easily be unable to maintain altitude in pockets of downdrafts. Clouds, colours, haze, they're all as good as any of the sims.
Better aerodynamic modelling. This is a contentious issue because many claim that one of the other sims is more accurate, but not only does MSFS model the momentum and feel of a GA plane, but the added points of airflow modelling often produce surprisingly real consequences, asymmetric stalls, wing washout in some aircraft, and many other subtle aspects. In fact, I've actually had a couple of episodes where I've got into trouble in a turn or climb, and then discovered a real world accident that replicates what happened to me because the airflow modelling simulated real world subtleties never seen before in a sim.
There are areas of the sim that could be improved of course. Turbulence effects on the pilot viewpoint for one. Development of dynamic weather like weather fronts that squall across the landscape with wind shears. Dynamic responsive ATC. And so on.
But... when I put on the VR headset and set up a cross country flight just about anywhere in the world, with real weather, in a GA plane such as the 152 or even the new Diamond DA50, there's nothing else that replicates a real world flight like MSFS does.
So, while it's possible to 'play' MSFS, it's equally possible to simulate reality as close as it's possible with today's technology.
Hear, hear!
PS: In MSFS youn can even feel updrafts, downdrafts and turbulences dependent if flying over darker (e. g. forests) or lighter terrain or water bodies etc.

Hi all.
I play MSFS exclusively in VR (Quest 3)...
You play MSFS? 🤔
At least one honest guy in these forums 😄

For me it would be two planes. First of all a small single engined prop which I could fun fly by myself (need to get a PPL first of course). And then a business jet (incl. crew) for fast travelling with family and
friends, thinking of anything between a small Honda Jet and a Citation Longitude, but not too big for being able to access also smaller airfields.

I am so sorry to hear this Iain. I wish Mr Rollo all the best and may the vets find nothing bad on Monday. Please pass on my regards and wishes to Mr Rollo.
PS: he is so cute looking on the second pic you posted. May I ask you, how old he is?

Also, if you have unknowingly lost internet connection, the above mentioned menu items would be automatically set to off and greyed out.

Hi Wayne,
in my last post I forgot to mention, that you easily can check by yourself, how MSFS looks without internet connection. Just go to Options/General Options/Data/Data Connetction and there set "Online Functionality" to off and do a flight with this setting.
Cheers Wolfgang

I experienced that once. Scenery is becoming quite ugly, no satellite/areal ground imagery any more (just landclass), no PG (what was no problem for you, if I remember correctly - I couldn't fly without it)
mesh loses quality, AFAIK also vector data are gone, the scenery looks just like in early FSX days.
Edit: and of course no live weather data. Default enhanced airports looking like stock.

I use the tmstr 16000 set - and also tried the airbus 360 stick - using the twist rudder - and with the pedal's setup as Tmstr rules using the
TMC throttle as the mother - and also without - using direct USB for the pedals. Drivers are up to date
I thought that this was an MSFS problem - but it also occurs in DCS
John, so you get this strange behavior with all the above different setups? That's really strange. 🤔

Happy for you to jump in.
Not a clue, but I know Orbx released Sydney Seaplanes base recently so I will take a guess at that.
Yeah, looks like the pelican sculptures at Rose Bay.

Just for a larf - recently - on the other main forum - I was chastised by an American bloke -for miss use of English grammar
when I write in that forum
I had to look up the meaning of "chastised".😀
And the forum's spell check doesn't seem to know the word either. 😄
That confirms the topic's title is right.
PS: Edit because of bad grammar and spelling.

Hello Carlos,
I have a reply this morning, to the effect that the develper will be fixing this as soon as possible. When a developer says "as soon as possible", it might take loooong...😄 Sorry, couldn't resist 🙂

Hello,
the internal reply from the developer was:“It happens only with snow. it should be a bug in the sim as padu has a custom photoreal. Probably photoreal with snow causes this bug”
But the hole sim is photoreal.
I have seen similar effects in default snowy scenery in Greenland also.

As many others, I suggest flying in the PNW.
Here is the then famous video of Patrick Scharnovsky aka Jigsaw, which was officially used by Orbx to promote their first outside of Australia scenery, namely PNW. This video made me changing my mind and to finally switch as a diehard FS9 fanboy to FSX, only to be able to fly in this groundbreaking and innovative gorgeous PNW scenery.

DCS stands for Digital Combat Simulator.
