Over in the Optica thread in MSFS it was announced earlier today that an Optica update has been released via OC. There seems to be some confusion regarding whether it has or not as a few folk say they have it & others, myself included, have not seen it in OC. The thread there is going around in circles. Could someone kindly advise what the the updated Optica file version # is? Thanks TTM

Iain's use of the checkerboard & red livery inspired me to try it out of Wanaka Airfield in the South Island, NZ, in conjunction with Orbx NZ Mesh. Using different SoFly weather scenarios. TTM (MSFS) SoFly Calm Winds Calm Winds again. SoFly UK Light Snow. SoFly UK Spring Day (One of my favorites as it always gives a mix of distant light rain, clouds, blue sky - a bit of everything)

I can confirm the LPVL CTD occurrence. I have tried various combinations of Community items in/out of Community, but CTD always comes back to having LPVL in Community. Look forward to receiving rectifying update. TTM

Thanks for the insight. I hadn't realized how much AI there was in MSFS. Did you put horizontal tanks in KAVX & AI changed it to skinny houses, or was there an empty space there & AL filled it with the houses? Perhaps you need a disclaimer on your product - "Anything weird is probably AI" TTM

On further pondering it occurred to me that perhaps with World Update V [Nordic focus], dropping in June, they are pushing Nordic airport titles, some of which may be rendered 'obsolete' if Asobo include better versions in their update. TTM

No more today after this, I promise. Took the Seneca for a quick run around Catalina, looking for the rarities. I found one item that to me, epitomizes the dedication & detail Ken & Tim put into this island. A fan. TTM (MSFS) Not sure what this, but I found it! Looks like a Boarding establishment. Now this is dedication. At the back of the Boarding House?, where maybe 1 in a 1,000 tourists would wander, there is a fan, & it is weathered!! Yes, they took the trouble to weather a fan in the middle of nowhere!! Self explanatory. Trucking along in the Seneca. Everyone appears to have satellite dishes, but the house in the foreground has a TV aerial too! Such detail!

I decided to take a chopper over to Avalon & have a look at the inhabitation either side of the town. It did throw up some graphics issues, which I refer to in the last shot. TTM (MSFS) Surely the banner on the Porta-Loo is not a commentary on MSFS?? Ridge running towards Avalon Past Avalon, at dawn. Same shot, set to dusk. This is the issue I came across when I got closer to the storage tanks. Obviously the housing should be wider than it is & I think some foreground items are missing. I don't have a top of the line video card, (6GB RAM), but have 32GB of RAM & an I7-10700F CPU. Up to now I have been able to run Graphics Global Rendering at 'High' without visual miscues. Anyone have any idea what might be causing the issues below? Any settings I could try?

When I was visiting Avalon yesterday I noticed the scenery wasn't 'right'. There were flattened buildings & odd hill surfaces. I chose shot angles to minimize that, but since the MSFS update last week the Sim has been a bit 'off' with some CTD, [rare], & visual cues suggesting all was not well. I reloaded Catalina this morning & another MSFS mini update came through, but it looks like Catalina is ok now. A few shots from this gem. TTM (MSFS) Taking off from Rwy 4, [I think its #4], allows for the belly flop departure off the cliff at the end of the runway. Working along the coast line. The turquoise caught my eye on the previous trip. A Café' & Bar? More blue/green. Dusk.

I took the Caudron from KAVX, around to Avalon. Used all the runway to take off, & had a closer look at the town using the Drone Camera. TTM (MSFS) This shows much of the character of Catalina Island that has been captured so well by Ken & Tim- windswept, with sparse vegetation. (The Island I mean) The nose is obscuring the cruise ship at Avalon. I like the way MSFS does cloud shadowing on the water. A nautical trio. The Boat Club. Stunning tile work. They look like painted ceramic tiles, & they have been aged to reflect the impact of the elements. Top class.
