  1. Hello,

if you feel that the shadows are too blurred or jagged, the sharpness can be greatly enhanced

    by a visit to

    C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt.

    You can edit the line

    {Shadows
            MaxSliceCount 4
Size 2048 (the highest in game setting)

    to

    {Shadows
            MaxSliceCount 4
            Size 4096

    or even

    {Shadows
            MaxSliceCount 4
            Size 8192

There appears to be no performance impact at all.

As ever, your mileage may vary.

The new setting will show on the settings page but cannot be selected in the game.

  2. I can confirm that if I use the Nvidia DSR to replicate 4k on my 2k monitor, the

hardware does not perform as well as it does using 2k.

Like John, I cannot justify the expense of a 4k monitor just for testing purposes.

I am not sure that is the problem, it may well be the cause and I still cannot replicate it

when I use software settings that suit my hardware configuration.

Nick, you’ll see I was heavily involved in trying various settings to try and resolve the problem in that topic. Many others have reported problems but it’s curious that no support staff have the problem. Why is that?

Perhaps their PCs do not share the specification, configuration or settings that yours features.

Those are the main contributors to different experiences with the same files.

This seems to be your last post in the first part of the topic.

It appears to suggest that there will be another reply.

It’s very simple to try my test. Three settings:-

    • Monitor set to 30Hz
    • Resolution of 3840*2160
    • Dynamic Lighting off.

If anyone could try those settings with a 1080Ti or better they should be able to replicate the problem.

I cannot replicate these settings, as my PC and its monitor are far too inferior.

I have to ask one question and I hope the developer will not take offence. Is this airport 100% compatible with the SDK. I ask because it’s unique in having such severe performance issues.

I am sure that the developer will not mind you questioning his competence at all.

  4. BBCode no longer works in these forums.

This is how to obtain the Direct link at imgur, right click on the image to see the menu.

    5.jpg

This is the link that is created: https://i.imgur.com/WCgmCKc.jpg

Note that there is no [img] [/img] code

Depending upon the internet browser used, it may instead show Copy image address

or Copy file location or Copy url.

and when that link is copied into a post, the forum automatically embeds it:

    WCgmCKc.jpg

Please note that the forums also no longer accepts http links.

    They must be https.

If you are unable to use a site that provides https links, you can copy your

    http link into Notepad.

Then edit it to https and copy it again into your forum post.

The link will then show as the image.

  5. Q. What are the Microsoft Marketplace and Orbx Direct?

    A. The in-game Microsoft Marketplace is a medium for the purchase and installation of additional features for the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Its purpose is to allow customers to pay for and install any of the products on offer in the Marketplace.

Marketplace customers will have an account at the Marketplace.

Orbx Direct is a website where customers may go to purchase Orbx products.

Customers may also make purchases using Orbx Central.

Orbx Central is the application that must be installed on the host computer to download and install the purchases made at Orbx Direct.

Orbx customers will have an Orbx Direct account.

    Q. Why can I not see the products I bought in the Marketplace in Orbx Central or my Orbx Direct purchases in the Microsoft Marketplace?

    A. There is no connection or communication between the Microsoft Marketplace customer account and the Orbx Direct customer account.

    This means that:

a customer who bought from the Marketplace will not see them as owned in Orbx Central.

a customer who bought from the Marketplace will not be able to use Orbx Central to manage or update those products.

a customer who bought from Orbx Direct will not see them as owned in the Marketplace.

a customer who bought from Orbx Direct will not be able to use the Marketplace to manage and update those products.

a customer who bought from Orbx Direct will be able to use Orbx Central to manage and update those products.

    Q. Why are new products and product updates available through Orbx Central and not yet through the Marketplace?

    A. Orbx has direct access to Orbx Direct and Orbx Central. New products and product updates can be added as and when ready.

New products and updates to Orbx products have to go through a Microsoft procedure before being added to the Marketplace.

Note: Orbx product updates at the Marketplace will be in the form of a full download of the product.

    Q. I bought an Orbx product at the Marketplace, why do I not qualify for a discount at Orbx Direct?

    A. Product discounts for previous ownership rely on there being a qualifying product already in the customer account. As the two marketing media are not connected, a product owned at one of them will not qualify for a discount at the other.

    Q. Can I use products that I bought from Orbx Direct on my XBox?

    A. No, the XBox is a closed system which cannot run Orbx Central as an installer.

To run Orbx products on an XBox, they must be bought, again if already owned, from the XBox in-game Marketplace.

    Q. I bought an Orbx product from the in-game Marketplace, can I transfer it to Orbx Direct?

    A. No, as the two selling media are completely separate, there is no system in place to allow this.

There is no system to transfer them in the other direction either, though such a request has never been made.

    Q. I have installed a product using Orbx Central but it shows in the Content Manager as "Not installed"

    A. If a third-party developer's product really is not installed, it does not show in the Content Manager at all.

It is best not to refer to the Content Manager when dealing with third-party addons, unless it is changed, it

is more likely to mislead than to inform.

Hi, 1 bought the KORS scenery for FS 2020 on the Orbx website.

But I have no clue what to do that it is shown/used/installed in the FS even though it recognizes that I own the scenery.

Is there any manual/installation instruction how to do this?

    Where can I find it?

    Thx for your support.

    Hello,

    welcome to the forums.

Please download and install Orbx central from any of the "Get Central" links on the Orbx Direct site.

You can then log in and use it to install your products.

    Here is the User Guide.
