  1. Hello Pete,

aside from the eye watering price, that exceeds what I spent on the entire

remainder of my PC, a 3090 would not fit into my case, unless I were to remove

three hard drives and two expansion cards.

I have no use for a 3090 as it happens, I might consider more than the 8 GB

of VRAM that I have at present but my hope is that Direct X 12 will either be

modified to allow it to carry on working when the VRAM is exhausted, as does

Direct X 11, or the software will be improved so that it does not use more than is

    there.

  2. Hello,

anecdotal evidence is suggesting that the "rolling cache" can contain data which,

when combined with the installation of a new airport, cause either anomalies or a CTD.

It is also the case that the content.xml file is only updated to add products, it does not

update when a product has been removed.

The recommendation is therefore that before attempting to use a newly installed scenery

product, both the rolling cache and the Content.xml file are deleted.

Note: for the Microsoft Store version of MSFS default location of the Content.xml file is

    C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Content.xml.

    Please note:

If you cannot see the appdata folder, you may need to enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives" in your

    Windows File Explorer view settings.

The Steam version is C:\Users\Your name\appdata\roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content.xml

Other versions of MSFS may have the Content.xml file in a different location.

I do have a couple of thoughts about this and other recent partnerships.

It does feel like Orbx is perhaps focussing more on acquiring new partners than producing or updating their own software.

    Hello,

Orbx Direct is a marketing medium, just like Steam or SimMarket are and the FlightSim Store once was.

The addition of new partners has absolutely no impact on Orbx products or their development.

Those who administer the Partners' products play no part in product development and there is therefore no

    diversion of resources.

The new partners have clearly seen Orbx Direct and Orbx Central as a new and effective way to distribute

their products and indeed they are.

We do not provide support for the partners' products beyond our own responsibility, which is to

ensure that Orbx Central has installed them as it should.

We do provide links to each Partner's support system and direct those customers who have overlooked them

    to those links.

I hope that this clarifies the position and dispels your misgivings.

Only thing that concerns me is support... All third party support is handled in a different way. But how does a customer know? It buys product a b and c, and goes to Orbx Support. Support then says, go to the dev. Case a means sending a mail case b is opening a topic on a forum and case c is contact via Facebook.... Confusing and not really customer friendly.

    Hello,

each Orbx Direct product page clearly states where to go for support and provides a link to that support.

    here is one example.

In addition, each product page in Orbx Central contains a link to the same source of support.

  5. Hello,

the mention of FSX was just a red herring.

The problem with the airports seems to be that whoever made them did not compile them correctly.

Here is the default VTBS, once again Vector is active.

Here is the same airport but after using the Airport Design Editor to add an airport background,

a flatten to exclude autogen and an exclude to remove the default airport.

    Vector remains active.

You can have the files for that one, they are originals made by me.

It looks like most of the VTxx airports are the same.

  6. Hello,

thank you, we do our best.

The problem here seems to be that the two Orbx products that you assign blame to,

do not in fact contain any files that could possibly cause the problem.

Default P3D v5, however, does seem to.

Unless those default P3D v5 files have been excluded by another product, such as

EU England or TEGB South, there is no other solution that could be applied to

Global Base or open LC Europe, because they are the wrong type of product.

  7. Hello,

you should not confuse an answer that you do not like with a lack of product support.

The copy of P3D v5 used to make the small video has nothing installed into it, all add-ons disabled and an entirely default scenery.cfg file.

To me, that is a default version. You may disagree.

I can also visit the exact location in default P3D v4 and see no stuttering or pauses at all.

I can also visit the location in default FSX and see no stuttering or pauses at all.

Once I add Global Vector to P3D v4, the problem is immediately apparent.

My unscientific guess, as I have already written, is that in updating the default Vector data, Lockheed Martin have introduced the same problem

that was introduced by the Pilots' version of Orbx Global Vector.

  8. Hello,

thanks for the sarcastic remark. Much appreciated.

As Holger stated, neither Global Base nor openLC include files that can cause the problem.

The problem for those who use only these two now lies with the simulator, as illustrated in the video.

EU England and True Earth GB South both exclude the default shoreline vectors and add their own,

thus removing the problem caused by the simulator.

    Hi there,

sorry, surf effects by themselves cannot be excluded, only the shoreline vectors to which they are attached.

    Cheers, Holger
