Training for long distance flights... a calculation challenge

Stillwater

Recommended Posts

I wanted to just simulate & shortcut a longer flight, and started from Broome only. The challenge: It should be ending at Melbourne 06:30 Local Time, end of April. So take into account time zones, daylight saving on the southern and northern hemisphere, not to forget wind speeds. Drove me crazy. Maybe I will just have to do a full run from the homebase of this airline...

Here we are, crossing the country in the night...

... already over VIC, ...

Cool down, mates.

And that is where the paxes go.

Excellent set Gerold.

Like the SQ 757 and the great YMML scenery.

The other way around if your calculations are awry is to change the time manually as you near YMML.

Singapore to Melbourne in a 757 would be a terrific flight which I may look into as my version of Changi now has a P3D version.

I will wait for you Gerold as I don't want to steal your thunder.

Indeed, I had to manipulate the time in order to have the approach correct. But manipulation does not help me in simulating the impression of flight SQ227... so that is my task for this weekend.

I do not have a Changi add-on, but I will choose a suitable plane, in order not to squeeze the paxes into a 757...  8)

Fantastic set, I always loved the Singapore Livery.

You are right - I do not know why, but it always has a positive impression, it simply is a classical one.

Beautiful shots Gerold!

Thank you, Kasi.

Flying eastward over several timezones always proves a challenge for me. I never seem to arrive when I expect to ;)

Nice pics!

Thanks. Not to forget daylight savings - FSX doesn´t apply this to their calendar, too - I just landed exactly this hour too early  >:D
