Languedoc in Wales.

Some caps of a Sud Est SE161 Languedoc in South Wales.

Based on the Bloch MB.160 bomber, the first Languedoc flew in 1939. Limited production was attempted during the war but was abandoned due to lack of skilled workers. Eventually 100 were completed

They saw service with Air France and the French military but due to unreliable engines, lack of de icing equipment, no cabin heating and excessive noise they were not successful and very unpopular with airline passengers. Some were re-engined with P&W R-1830s, also limited heating and de icing were added, but they were gone from international routes by 1952. More modern aircraft such as the DC-4 and Viscount saw the Languedoc retired from domestic airline service by 1954.

They soldiered on with the military in various roles, and as flying test beds until 1964.

Thanks Brad. Interesting light when flying at dawn and dusk.

Great shots and a lovely aircraft here!

Thanks Marcus.

Gorgeous. I love this era when many aircraft took on this sleek look. Shot number 3 is awesome.

Who makes this addon aircraft?

Thanks Jocko

There were some great aircraft in this era, but I think I would rather be flying in todays aircraft.

cross between a connie and a DC3 and ...

Thanks Stu. Some had the same P&W engines as the DC-3 and it almost has the graceful lines like the connie.

What a great set these are.

cheers

Iain
