There's still so much to discover around Milford Sound. It's rare that I manage to control myself and post a single shot from a session, but here goes! Adam. We're lucky in NZ to have two regularly flying Spitfires and two P-40's. You'll never, ever, beat the sight of a Spitfire in the air, but honestly ... these P-40's do grow on you!! pilottj Posted January 10, 2013 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Great shot and great plane Yeah the P-40 just has a certain rugged charm to it. I find it more suited to the Milford Sound area than the P-51. Every time I fly the Mustang around Milford Sound, I always end up going down some canyon, run out of room and airspeed, and then end up with a bent prop and broken airplane . The P-40 being a little slower, gives you a little more time to plan an escape, and if it is light enough, it has more than enough power to climb out.
