ESSB Stockholm-Bromma. Official Trailer.

Hej Marcus

I don't know if you can engage yourself in this.
However I got a problem with Bromma.

I'll get CTD almost every time I approach Bromma beginning at 5-10 nm, or trying to depart, usually at lining up or shortly after t/O.
I actually got CTD every time I was closing Arlanda from the South at a distance 20-30 NM from ESSA, and then I disabled ESSB and everything begin working and so I found out Bromma was the problem.
But only in VR.
It began after I bought myself a new computer (I9-13900, RTX 4090, 32Gb mem) recently and installed everything from scratch.
Also I went from win 10 to win 11. I have the same problem with Orbx ENGM, but not with ESGG or ESMS or plenty of other airports.
I rasied a ticket but Nick said Orbx don't support VR!
So I feel pretty helpless and wonder if you can offer any clues to this.
The Bromma scenery is just fantastic, and I learned flying there so it's my homefield so to say.

First of all, congrats on the 4090! I've been looking at that since the release but wow, that price. Thought my 3090 was expensive. But still... can't take my eyes off it

 

Regarding the issues you are having I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

I'm not sure what could be the issue to be honest. There are not that many similarites in the development techniques between ESSB & ENGM so that is surprising you got issues on those two airports. Would have made more sense if ESMS had issues as they share a lot when it comes to the tech. Do you run GSX or any other addon for the area that can combined with ESSB cause a conflict?

I'm making a performance update for ESSB when we are done with ESSA so if anything pops up that can help me fix it, that would be a good time. We've not heard about anyone experiencing CTD's as far as I remember, but hm....

 

I'll write you an email instead, maybe there is something we can look at.

Just wanted to say thanks @Marcus Nyberg again for the awesome Bromma scenery! Now with the ATR available, the first flight was obvious! Bromma to Visby, especially as I did it (as a passenger) last weekend! 

Truly enjoyed it and your scenery really made the difference

I have problems with performance on the latest version of Bromma, that airport tanks fps and Vram like no other, it was not this hard to drive when it was released, I hope for an improvement, is there a possibility to uninstall Bromma but keep Visby ?

Sorry to hear about your experience!

I'm looking at putting some time in doing some optimizations with more LODing, removing some details landside and adding options to disable POI's for instance. Was hoping to have that done this year but might be that it slips in to next year.

For performance I think one thing you could try is to remove the animated traffic, that probably adds quite a hit in the fps. Just try removing these folders:

 

Orbx-airport-essb-stockholm-bromma\SimObjects\GroundVehicles

Orbx-airport-essb-stockholm-bromma\Modules

Orbx-airport-essb-stockholm-bromma\Scenarii

 

To disable ESSB but keep ESSV I think you can just remove the ESSB folder

ESSB Stockholm Bromma Airport\Community\Orbx-airport-essb-stockholm-bromma\scenery\Orbx

Might be good to remove the animated traffic as well as it doesn't serve any purpose without the ESSB scenery being installed in that case.

Sorry, no. I made a promise to release ESKS & ESNQ as a free update to one of my other swedish airport products, which is something I regretably will need to reverse on. The flight sim market has become harder and harder to make a living from and I have had to switch focus to be able to survive in this new market reality. I haven't been able to set off time to do those ports for free. My current focus is to make a payware bundle with ESNQ, ESNU and ESNZ where maybe ESKS can be included as just a port of the existing scenery from P3D. ESNQ is recieving more visual updates like drone shot ortho and some other improvements.

 

I'm deeply sorry about breaking my promise, it shouldn't have been made and I will learn from this mistake. My apologizes again.

If there is considerable work involved, then the work should be paid for.  I look forward to a payware bundle. I know the quality and value will be there.

I think the City Update 7 has caused some issues with the ESSB scenery down town Stockholm city. I have reported it as a support ticket but, perhaps you could see if this is a CU 7 problem, SU 15 problem or a ESSB problem? Strange black areas in the water, double roads and traffic under bridges. Can only give one example here, but this can be seen for example outside the City hall, black line over water.

There were several issues reported with the photogrammetry version of Stockholm combined with our Bromma scenery. Not sure I saw that one, but seems like photogrammetry isn't enabled in your screenshot.

 

We just released a patch for compability with the photogrammetry update. Please note though that this update will highly recommend having the City update installed and photogrammetry enabled. The update is made to work well with the photogrammetry and custom POI's, ortho imagery and other enhancements we had in our product has been reduced, edited or removed to work better with the photogrammetry edition. I wish I could have made a version that fits both people that want to run without photogrammetry and the ones that have it enabled but the difference would be too complex so I had to go with one of the two options.

Installed and looked around with photogrammetry on. Looks very nice. There are still some very strange anomalys (for example Riddarfjärden with a strange line across the water and Huvudstabron) but I guess that has to do with CU7 rather than the ESSB scenery.

Maybe time for a small update soon.?

After they changed all the front windows they painted the smoke stack all white now in front of the handicapped entrance.

Also a couple of construction cranes are gone and quite a few store changes at Bromma Blocks in addition to tvärbanan is available now.

Also the new OKQ8 station on Bällstavägen

 

Also the airport is closed weeks 30-31 as they are repaving the runway so I have an extra 2 weeks tacked on to my vacation 😃

I'm aware things have changed a bit since my release (and worried things have changed even more that I wasn't aware of)  I'm sorry to hear they painted the smoke stack white though, really liked the old one!

Currently I haven't schedueled any update for it, but it's on my list for the future. Lets keep in touch

I've found some new things that might need some correction. At Y5 it's a small bump that needs to be straighten out. At Y4 it's a small hill that needs to be a little bit smoother. At Y3 the hill seems to look a little bit steep as well. At Y1 there is a bump that needs to be flatten out.

First i want to thank for an awesome product.. you make Stockholm fun to fly around in.

I just fly helicopter and doing EMS flying around Stockholm.

I have been away for a while and now when I’m back flying the Karolinska sjukhuset and Södersjukhuset are gone.

they are just the low stock ones that come with Msfs..

Karolinska sjukhuset miss the main building with the landing pad on the roof,

Is’t something I can fix myself?

Was waiting for the first one to take notice of that haha.

So the thing is we removed them as Stockholm city was included in photogrammetry in City Update 7 (I think is the right number at least?).

We removed a lot of our city assets to make better use of the photogrammetry and reduce the memory footprint and help with performance. I even removed the custom satellite imagery for big parts of Stockholm as it didn't serve any purpose anymore, except increasing memory load and reducing performance. We included some of our custom POI's for the city where it made sense.

In a dream scenario we could have dual versions for people using photogrammetry and people that don't, but we can't have a config tool for that and it's quite complex operation to get those two fully functioning indiviually and not have a dual project running.

 

So in short, when the photogrammetry update came I decided to support that to a full extent which affected the scenery if not running with photogrammetry. 

It sounds like you don't have the photogrammetry installed, so perhaps look at that first. 

I'm not about to update ESSB in the neartime future, but I can look at bringing back the hospitals when that happens, if that would make a difference to you.

But have a look at the photogrammetry versions first and see if they bring any happiness:)

Hmmm this is strange… i don’t have any photogrammetry in my Stockholm area… it works fine in Gothenburg and other cities…

anyone have a clue what that can be?

i have tried ever combination with Map enhancement and without it… delete all cache….

i have no clue what can be wrong.

You need to manually download it, same as with the world updates. It is free and developed by Microsoft. When you start up the simulator click on the marketplace tab and search for City Update and should you see it there.

 

If you haven't downloaded the World Updates for the Nordics, I also recommend you doing that as it will greatly increase Sweden with lots of POI's and increased data for the country. There are two different ones, World Update Nordics and World Update Nordics 2 (I think it's called). All is free content developed by Microsoft. If you have Orbx ESSA you will need to manually uninstall the Microsoft version that comes with the first world update.

That is a bit of a disappointment, Marcus. I was not aware that some of the landmark models had been removed when the updated photogrammetry was released. I am not a big fan of photogrammetry, and I never use it. The beauty of 3D models is that everyone can enjoy them, not just the PG guys.
