olderndirt
Scotlands westerly outer islands facing the Atlantic. Flight begins at Stornoway on the most northerly island of Lewis - destination Barra. Stornoway, largest town in the Western Isles has 8000 residents. What separates the Isle of Lewis from Harris appears to be the village of Tarbert - making Harris tweed and distilling single malt, both excellent endeavors. Bottom to top center - picture Flora MacDonald, six stout oarsmen and her maid (Charles Edward Stuart) crossing in the night. "Speed bonny boat - over the sea to Skye". About to leave the lower end of South Uist and cross over to the Isle of Barra. Barra - the only scheduled carrier airport in the world using a tidal beach for runways.
