Not what I was expecting

Back in the early 70s we lived at Rossmore on the border of Bournemouth and Poole.

I heard the distinctive sound of a big piston engine plane and on going into the garden I had a pleasant surprise.

The distinctive Britannia tail plus piston engines meant a Canadair Argus.

The only one I have ever seen but now I can try and fly the freeware one in XP-11!

Thanks for showing that stirring rendition of Rule Britannia John.

Plenty of memories from watching Last Night if the Proms on the TV in the 60s, some things have changed since Sir Malcom Sargent's days!

You enjoy your week end too but every day is the week end for me!

Me too , I like to say it to remind me of all the years I worked for a living . :(B)

This is cool Martyn, another one I've never seen and what is that "thing" on the tail of the plane?

Thanks Jack, I was very lucky right place right time!

It is part of the MAD boom, I have never seen it on any other planes though.

Great shot Martyn.  Always liked the look of the Argus and, like you, have only ever seen one.

Must get this for my XP hanger.

Thanks Laurence, indeed a great looking plane and nicely modelled here.

Here is a link if you haven't got it yet.
