VH-KDK
Wonderful shots Jack, that Staggerwing is getting a big workout. The plethora of pylons is interesting in that second last shot.

Jack Sawyer
Thank you all again, yeah, that's a lot of voltage going through those wires. When I flew hot air balloons they were to be avoided at all costs!

The plethora of pylons is interesting in that second last shot. Technically accurate placement of the pylons. Waiouru is located on the South Eastern side of Mt Ruapehu, the mountain behind the pylons. To the North of Mt Ruapehu is Lake Taupo. In the South Western corner of Lake Taupo at Tokaanu is a hydro generating plant, part of the Tongariro hydro electric scheme. Power generated from that scheme is carried to southern regions of the North Island by the pylons. They are very noticeable & a P.I.T.A as you drive up the Eastern side of Mt Ruapehu via the Desert Road from Waiouru to Turangi, as they are placed parallel to & between the road & the mountain. They spoil some good photo ops of the mountain. TTM
Jack Sawyer
Thanks TTM! I love back story like this! I'm glad Orbx nailed it, they look cool but I can see your point about photo ops. Did you used to live there? I see you're from NJ, I'm in GA but I'm originally from Boston, but I'm okay now!
