When will Orbx just come out and say that they will not be supporting V6. As said above it pretty obvious that they do not seem at all interested in it.

Say it so we can just move on.

Only when there's a decision to not support V6.  At the moment there's work going on to support V6, maybe other priorities take precedence or maybe it's not as easy as you might think.

  2. I find these generally sort themselves out in the long run, I would just accept the install as it is and enjoy the airports, and next time you log on to the computer see if Verify Flies fixes the problem, if not post again and we can try to track down the errant file.  It could be as simple as a single texture on a single object almost hidden from view and you might never know there's a problem, so just enjoy the scenery and worry about the detail later.

    Hi there,

did you ever find a solution for this? I’m having the same problem with it in P3Dv5.4

You should be able to delete the smoke effect from either somewhere in the aircraft's folder or in the main effects folder.  It might impact other aircraft if it's in the main effects folder, but I for one don't use smoke effect ever so for me that wouldn't be a problem.

just locate all files that have smoke somewhere in their name and cut and paste them to another folder somewhere and test the plane in the sim, it shouldn't cause a crash, maybe there will be a file missing prompt but if I remember rightly they can generally be ignored.

Unfortunately I no longer have FSX or P3D installed so I can't chase this up.

Thank you Wolfgang.  No I'm not Trolling, I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and it really bugs me that I can't find software for our international Airport anywhere.

I am starting to think that developers think that Essendon is still our International Airport but it is just used for small and light mainly business aircraft. Tullamarine is our passenger and International Airport.

    Regards Rod crocker

Developing an airport like YMML takes hundreds of hors of skilled work.  If a developer thinks that the shrinking market for XPlane products is worthy of all that work, and believe me a lot of developers do it for the satisfaction as much as any financial return, then I'm sure someone would be prepared to do the work.  As yet it appears that none has seen value in such a project.

  5. By the way I use FSUIPC7 as my control program in MSFS. You just need to delete all the MSFS bindings and set up replacements in FSUIPC. Once entered they apply as General Assignments to all aircraft, unless a change is made in an Aircraft Specific profile. Individual sensitivities become quick and easy to set up and don't require any selection with each aircraft, it's automatic.

I need to think about this - I find the Orbx one (Sorry Mateo) tarmac reminds me of the worn planked flooring in an old cotton mill back home in Lancashire - and the 3-10 parking areas are missing

If you look on Google Earth the tarmac is much closer to reality in this version.  The oil and tyre staining appears to be more pronounced than in reality, but I think it's a closer representation than the other image.  The imagery would have been supplied by a specialist aerial imagery firm, and this would have been how their cameras captured the tarmac.

I was secretly hoping for an Australia Day release! Oh well I will just keep eagerly waiting 🙂

Yes I know... but the beta team discovered that the paint on the terminal walls was modelled as Taubmans but in reality it's Dulux, so a crew has been sent in to repaint all the buildings with the correct brand of paint. And with the shortage of tradies these days who knows how long it will take.

I took a flight yesterday - in P3D4 - there was my house - on the Orbx Gold Coast scenery from later - than MSFS's

BING - where my house that I have lived in for 10 years is only shown as a building site:angry:

You know that MSFS has a very user friendly scenery creator included in the SDK? There's nothing to stop you selecting a suitable size area around your house, or just your own block, and making a scenery with aerial imagery and a suitable house model. Since the MSFS worldwide scenery is essentially free I don't think endlessly harping on about the age of the scenery is going to get you anywhere.

  9. Performance might not be affected but file loading might. Windows ain't perfect, I often note if I'm doing something else on the desktop while the sim is loading, a file doesn't load properly and there's a glitch in the sim. Usually it's an aircraft, although it works, a particular function might not work, such as GPS screen selection. Only a reboot of the sim fixes it.

If the sim is encountering any file disruptions during loading it might manifest as what you are seeing.  I think there's a reason why Asobo has its core file structure as it is, maybe it needs to be as intended?

  10. I sometimes see this effect at various locations and for some reason usually it's seen with the first loading of the scenery and if I look or move away and come back it has gone.

If it persists it could be any number of things causing it, from settings to conflicts.  Or as you suspect, moving the main folders to another SSD.

    Good luck with it!

    Hello All,

I can confirm that my wallet is closed for this one. LOL. Sorry Nick. More work. I also have an issue YGLA when clicking on "add to cart" I get an error message "Error product not found" as per picture. Crazy voodoo or something.

Keen as mustard to buy. Just my two bobs worth.

    Cheers

    Hi

It's still in beta, so not yet available.

    Cheers

  12. Well to be fair the expectation was that XVision would continue to be available. This argument about Orbx 'faking' colours in XPlane has been raised before but it has never been particularly strong, because Orbx was showing what was achievable in the sim, rather than the muddy palette that XPlane serves up as default, and which would have made the scenery unattractive, whereas it had the potential to look as good as the P3D and Microsoft products do out of the box.

If you want to criticise anyone it should be Laminar because they refuse, for some unfathomable reason, to improve their palette, and worst of all, to actively discourage the use of third party software that seeks to add a bit of vibrancy to the murky soup that is the default.

    Hi there.

I have the same problem. Progressively slower and slower download speeds as the download continues. I have had this same problem for years. I do not have this problem with any other vendors or downloads and have a PREMIUM service provider. I have tried the advice given above to restart Orbx Central and resume the download. This does not work and even if it did, this is not a viable solution to an ongoing and consistent problem. I understand what is being said about it not being Orbx's problem so I am not blaming the Orbx servers. However, I am asking for assistance regarding how to realistically solve this problem.

The downloads start at high speed and then as the download progresses, it dwindles to around 360kB/s and takes all night to download.

    Thanks,

The Orbx team are collecting these reports but my experience is that almost all these slow downloads get resolved within a couple of days.  Of course they can resurface at any time but individual cases seem to resolve at some stage.

I proved it was my provider by taking my computer to my sister's house a few times and despite 100Kb/sec at my place, I was consistently getting 5-6MB/sec there.

I also used this url to check actual international download speeds, and my previous provider showed poor speeds in this app as well.

  14. After following the advice above I managed to get this mod installed and I flew around my local area and also over Manhattan.  All sliders set to Ultra except the ones I have Off such as Bloom and Motion Blur.  Performance was smooth right across the board but there was a degree of stuttering when panning or turning around especially over Manhattan.

So I then restarted the sim and tried a flight in VR.  Performance was dreadful, with black frames edging in as I looked around and hald my usual frame rates, and a strange look to the scenery which I guess was the mod trying to interpolate the VCR frames but not succeeding.

Now for the interesting bit.  I uninstalled the mod and returned the registry to its previous state and restarted the sim.  Guess what?  Just as smooth and just as much detail as when the mod was active, with all the settings to Ultra, and in full 4K resolution..  And no stuttering.  The frame rates over Central Park might have been lower as dense trees always slow down my performance, and perhaps the mod helped to add some real frames to that scene.  But overal,l with no frame counter to affect my perception of what I was seeing, I say there was little to no difference in performance between the two options.

And with the mod disabled I have my VR performance back.

Just proves once again that often the placebo effect is probably live and well and as with soooo many magic tweaks in the past, after some critical investigation, this mod really does very little except make the user believe the perfomance is much better.
