  1. The cloud! It's about to swallow your plane whole! I see a movie here...maybe your plane goes into that cloud, and comes out in another time. OR, maybe, some dimensional door and you pop out on the other side of the globe. Oh, sorry, imagination getting carried away. :D

A very nice image here :)

  2. Really cool stuff here with these images Paul, lot's going on in them. One thing I appreciate about the Lord Howe Island scenery is how short and challenging that little runway is. It has taken me several approaches and LOTS of running off the end of the runway before I finally feel comfortable about landing there. And you better do it with the right plane! Tricky little bugger :D

Thanks Landon :). I can remember reading about the Balkans war in the 92-95 period and then the Kosovo war after that. There is so much history in that whole area which contributed to the conflicts.

Oh yes, I am aware of a LOT of the deep and long history.

  4. Wonderful images Paul. I always hope the best for Kosovo. I was deployed there for a year there on a UN Peacekeeping mission in the late 90's, and the country was in a rough shape then. The people seemed very hardy though, and I feel like they would be able to rebuild their country well as the years moved forward. Some beautiful terrain in that country and nice to see these airport images, as the real location was a bombed out shambles when I was there.

Not sure if it's worth for you to try, if you already have it already up and running, but just in case someone wants to try it.

Thank you Michael, I already do have FSLTL set up and operating greatly. When I installed it, as I was following the tutorial video (mentioned above) exactly, so that settings cog wheel was not mentioned until towards the end of the video. Most times, when I install a new program I let it install the default way (unless it wants to install to my C drive...I intervene there fast) the first time so I don't mess anything up. I got both FSLTL folders that you mentioned properly installed, in my Community folder as designed by the FBW installer. It's just that my MSFS install dis not like the  Injector folder there, and would crash. I ONLY moved said Injector folder outside of the Community folder, and no more CTD and FSLTL works otherwise without issue for me. But, thanks for offering up some more insight. FSLTL is running for me with this minor adjustment, and I am a happy camper :)

    Cheers,

    I hope this helps somehow...

I appreciate your assistance Carlos, but as I stated earlier, I have FSLTL up and running and it's working great so far. I never have used AIG, so I don't have any potential for conflicts there. The way I use Addon Linker, it's not possible for the FBW installer to have put any files in any of my Addon Linker folders. I don't want to dig into how I have all my drives and folders setup on here, but suffice it say there were no FSLTL files installed anywhere except for my Community folder when I ran the installer. For whatever reason, the FSLTL Injector causes MSFS to crash on my system when residing in the Community folder. When I brought this issue up on another flight sim forum, someone said that this is a known issue that affects some users and it will eventually get fixed. In the meantime, just run the injector from outside the Community folder. All good. It's a great, free program so I am in no way frustrated with the developers or anything. I think they have done something marvelous so far and look forward to seeing the program develop and grow :)

  7. @Jack Sawyer I have it sorted now. I DO use Addon Linker, but I did not install FSLTL into my Addon Linker folder, as when it comes to AI, I prefer it to be running all the time, so I just install AI programs straight to my Community folder. Anyhow, someone suggested on another forum to move the FSLTL Injector folder outside of the Community folder and run the Injector that way, and it worked. So, not a big deal once I got it sorted.

No performance hits, but for some reason taxiing aircraft sometimes spin around.  Once, twice before continuing on their way or they just sit there and spin. Anybody else see this?

This has been happening since MSFS was released, and even with the MSFS default AI. It has been known since then and not fixed yet.

Landon, you have identified one of my big weaknesses. I never used to be like that, but it has become more of an issue as I have grown older .

It happens to the best of us Paul ^_^ Best thing to do is just embrace it and own it :D

I'd be looking at the clock counting down the hours, looking up the road for the delivery truck.....best of luck with it, sounds like a great system, I get really excited when I even just upgrade a component....

Same with me Wayne, same with me. I am constantly tracking shipments, looking out my window etc. Like a kid indeed :D

Thanks Wayne, going to be a bit of a task getting it all set up, not looking forward to that, but I think it will be sooo good when done and running. Doesn't matter how old you are, when you love doing something, it's really exciting to have something new.

    Don

May I suggest when the new system does arrive Don, savor in the moment, take your time unboxing, and patience is the watch word when setting up. It's all too easy to click on a window during the setup phase and then after, thinking, what did that say? ;)

  11. Don, sorry if you've been waiting on me to chime in here. I say "Pull the trigger and buy it!". I think you have set it up well with all of the comments from this whole thread. If you've already bought it, well then, I can't wait to hear how great it is for you when you get it and have it all set up at home :)

And no worries, I don't mind helping peeps on here when I can assist them. I am excited for you! :D

    Cheers!

  12. That is a much better build Paul, BUT, the biggest problem is the case. If you Google the case, you will find that is a tempered glass case with only a very small strip of front ventilation and no side ventilation. There does not appear to be any bottom ventilation either, although the top is nicely ventilated. And, as you pointed out, there are no case fans whatsoever included, so Don would have to have those added. But, the storage options are much better as is the motherboard selection. :) And, you kept the price within his range still too. If we could just find the right system build with a good case for him, we would be golden. We keep tap dancing around the final answer :D

  13. @renault You are not off the range with that thought at all Pete. A 750w PSU would be what I would consider the bare minimum for that build, but I personally would feel much more comfortable with an 850w PSU. The 750 does not allow for much headroom at all to upgrade the video card at a later date, or if you start adding other components (more fans, storage options) than you could could get real close to using all of the 750w capacity up and not leaving much room for spikes, which DO happen. Just something to consider.

  14. @paulb I believe the last two systems Don posted for us to look at were from that same company Paul, so I do think he is aware of them. But, I don't want to speak for Don, so I'll let him confirm. And speaking of, of those last two systems Don had us look at from Alliance, the 5800X3D system still looks the best of these options listed in this thread. The one you linked is close, but there are a few things I don't like about it that the OTHER 5800X3D system from Alliance that Don posted has. Specifically, I am not a fan of the B550M motherboard, and it also has no NVMe M.2 drives, and instead includes a SATA drive. Admittedly, a nice large one, but still a SATA drive. As I mentioned to Don somewhere above, I think it better to go with an NVMe drive in the system to put MSFS on, and then a large capacity SSD for Windows and other storage and apps. And then, if more storage is required, you can always add an external SATA USB drive if needed (or more SSD's or another NVMe drive). The earlier Alliance 5800X3D system that Don linked has all of that, plus a better motherboard.

Just some things I noticed :) Got to commend your effort though, looking for a vendor local to Don and setting up a possible system. Super good of you!
