  1. These sliders really showcase what the great artists at Orbx can do with this great new MSFS platform. And yes, I agree with Jon and Nick above, a platform it is. But, in my opinion, one of the best flight sim platforms we GA simmers have ever had access to! Asobo and MS have really planted the flag with MSFS and Orbx looks to grab the flag and run with it. Can't wait to see what else Orbx developers do for this new sim platform. Exciting times in the sim world indeed :)

Naja, "schön" ist es nicht wirklich, Gerold, aber vielleicht ein bisschen was zum Knobeln. Obwohl, schwierig ist es eigentlich auch nicht.

I think this one is not too difficult, although no airport building can be seen in this shot. But there is a clue in the pic which IMO makes it clear which airport it is.

When posting the answer, please tell us, why you have figured it out So no guessing please.:)

BTW, the pic was taken on July 22, 2013. Have fun!

I love the hi-tech system routing passengers to the boarding stairs in this picture :D

I went to the VA Clinic yesterday and they had a welcoming committee taking temperatures and giving us a quick look see before we were allowed to enter the building.  I was told by my Doctor that my neck is beyond repair and sorry but I have no choice but to learn to live with the pain or become a junkie.

After reading the previous post I am  doing better than a lot of you Old Coots.  I just turned 83 and now that I have my blood sugar under control (it was 575)  I feel well enough to fly again.

Sore finger tips is a small price to pay for wellness.

Dropping over 40 lbs off of my belly didn't hurt either.

Anyway the Doctor told me to stay home and away from people.  My Son took his advice and has me confined to the house by blocking in my car.

Y'all stay healthy and enjoy your confinement.

Have you tried landing on a mountain top like Trent Palmer and the Cowboys do?  It can get your blood pumping.

Good to hear your update Dale, and nice to see you back here. See you in the virtual skies :)

  4. I have just returned to the flight sim scene to find this sad news...there is some wonderful testament to Neil's tremendous work and love of flight simming in this thread, and that makes me smile at least. I personally have enjoyed Neil's work on numerous occasions, and it was always enjoyable to see him around on the site here, tirelessly working on freeware updates. My heartfelt condolences to all that knew him...

Maurizio I also started with this.  Remember the tape drive?  It would take like 15 - 20 minutes to load a game...

Man O man, that stupid old tape drive...haha... I had one of those for my Commodore Vic 20. Way I remember it, that tape drive took like an hour and a half to load up games. I never had a flight sim program for my Vic 20 though, mostly just those old text adventure games. What a relic that thing was.B)

  6. My first flying was on a C64 with FSII and those awesome paper maps that came with it. I loved those old paper maps, which there were four of for those that need a reminder (it was a long time ago haha): New York region, Seattle region, San Francisco region and the Chicago region. I would spend as much time studying those maps to pick airports to fly to as I would actual sim flying. I love maps and land navigation...give me a compass, protractor and a good map and I can navigate just about anywhere.

I'd spend my nights in my barrack's room on my Atari 800XL, flying F-15 Strike Eagle, and the venerable MS Flight Simulator... I remember landing and taking off from Meigs Field (Rest in Peace).  I had the coolest book "Flight Simulator Adventures" or something like that, that had a bunch of missions it would outline that you would try and do (landing on Golden Gate Bridge, etc).  That was a blast, and not very easy on that old slide-show flight sim.

You may not be aware yet, but Orbx has revived the venerable Meigs Field...in all its past glory! Just look for it on the FTX Product page...KCGX Meigs field.

And a hearty welcome to you here. As a career combat Soldier, I have always appreciated the work of the Public Affairs folks who sometimes have to protect us Grunts from our own stupidity :)

  8. Adam, I am sure I said it long ago, but just in case, thank you again for all your info and assistance with DX10 in FSX. I was gone from here for a while as I was moving from Tennessee to Hawaii. As a result, I had disassembled all my flight sim hardware a few months prior to moving in preparation, and then it took me several more months on the other end to get it all back up and running. Everything has worked great, just like it did before my move many months ago. That being said, I came right here, downloaded the DX10 How To manual to check for updated info, made just a few adjustments to my already DX10 tweaked setup and BAM, even smoother and crisper looking than before. Just awesome. Thanks again!

  9. Real Name: Landon

    From: Tennessee, USA

Origin Of nickname: Up until recent injuries in Afghanistan, I've spent 9 of my 17 years in the military as a trained combat sniper. As for the number '31' it is simply my favorite number.:)

About me: Born and raised in California, joined U.S. Army in 1989. Have been stationed most of my career here in Tennessee, but I've deployed to Iraq back in '91, and then again a few times since 2003, finished off with a recent 'trip' to Afghanistan (worked with some Aussie troops there, and even flew a few missions on Aussie Ch-47 helicopter's, and was very impressed with the flight crew's piloting). On this last trip I suffered injuries that have put my deployments to an end, and I get to finish my career at a desk :( In two years though, I can retire from the military and move on to a different career. Married to a wonderful woman who's stuck with me through all the recent deployments overseas. No children.

Flight SimMy first experience with flight simming was on SubLogic's Flight Simulator, back in 1982 or 83 (can't remember exactly...lol). Since then, I have been addicted to every version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as various combat flight sims. Then I discovered FTX and the virtual World was forever changed for me.:)

This was taken of me sitting on my Hummer with my rifle in hand, in Afghanistan, about a month before I was wounded. Man, I miss my rifle...:(
