Out of Africa

One thing I always wanted to do in FSX was flying in areas that I had seen in movies. In the past that was a definite disappointment, because the scenery just wasn`t there.

Now with fabulous FTX Global, Global Vector and the addition of FS Global Ultimate, this has turned into a distinct possibility.

One of my favourite places to visit in an airplane has always been the African Rift Valley, as shown so beautifully in the 1985 movie “Out of Africa†in a De Havilland DH60M Gipsy Moth.

As the following pictures (which I copied from the movie, so they are copyrighted by Universal Pictures) show, there are still some differences between reality and our virtual world.

For example, I cannot find giraffes, no matter how hard I try

It´s also still impossible to chase flamingos over Lake Natron

I also wasn`t able to locate this beautiful part of the Rift Valley

But when it comes to areas such as this, we are getting pretty close now

Or what do you think (I fly in parts of the Rift Valley in Northern Kenia, all pictures are un-edited, just resized)

Even when it comes to flying into the evening sun over African acacia trees, that be done now too (the first pic is from the movie again)

Ok, I have to admit, I had more clouds, so my sun does not look as fantastic.
