VH-KDK Posted July 8, 2013 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Ailsa Craig is an island 10 miles off the Southern Ayrshire coast. It rises 1110ft above the sea. The granite on the island is used for the manufacture of Curling Stones. The island is also a bird sanctuary especially for Gannets and Puffins. 1. Setting off from Wigtown with Lamachan Hill and Wigtown Bay in the background. 2. Loch Maberry and Loch Dornal have the B7027 passing between them. 3. Windfarm near Mill Loch. 4. The hill is called Knockdolian near the Mains of Tig. 5. Ailsa Craig with the now solar powered lighthouse. 6. The northern end of Ailsa Craig. 7. 8.
