The town is an important truck stop on the route to the US border on Highway #2 south. The airport was built as a RCAF training base during the WW2 (one of many in Alberta), later turned into a NATO training facility. Today the airport is used mainly for touch and goes, some glider activity as well. There is a repair shop, too. Some of the hangars are used by local industry, others were left to rot... I used to fly out of BATUS (CFB Suffield) just down the road, so anything in this area is great news. Lethbridge and Medicine Hat (I'd love to see Medicine Hat get the ORBX makeover) are the two major cities down that way for regional flights, I've spent a lot of time in both places.
