Great shots Jack.

Nice to see that T-38 in the air again.

The airfield is disused so no need to worry.

Some sad history too.

Thanks Martyn!  And thanks for that wiki info, I'll have a look now.  I have flown here a bunch and never noticed it.  I'll be darned!

I read it, I was sorry to see so many souls perished.  Very sad day.

I always check Google Earth when I see terrain "funnies"!

Adam.

Thank you Adam, that was very kind of you.  Martyn send a different link.  It's sad about those poor people and also sad about the decommissioned airfield.

I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford and now it's been deactivated.  I looked at a satellite view and the runways had literally thousands of cars parked on them and I have no idea why.

Jack,

Check out this for a bit of nostalgia on UH.  Might explain all the cars!

Thanks Kev, I am gonna go to this link right now.  I have always been keen on UH.  I think there's one in the sim but it's sad to see such a busy place like that deactivated.  I was there for three years working F-111's.  Back then all I had was an Atari 800 and the original Bruce Artwick flight simulator and I thought it was the best thing I ever saw.

Sad, sad, sad, I miss it.  That dorm they tore down?  I lived in it for three years.  That AV store, bought many a piece of stereo gear there.  Still doesn't mention why so many cars on the runway though.  What a great pace to live and work and it was my springboard to Europe.  I really miss the UK, I'd go back and live there in a minute of I could.
