bernd1151
Actually the day began quite nicely. We had loaned a Catalina from friends in Australia, which we planned to use on our freight runs in PNG. We had also negotiated with some local fishermen our daily quota of fresh fish. We even were lucky to be able to watch a few dolphins playing around our ship In short, the day was just purrfect Eventually though, we knew there was labor to perform and we decided we better do something about it. We couldn’t take off from the channel, where we had anchored, so we had to head out into the open sea And while still in the climb, there was out of a sudden a loud bang from the left engine What on earth…suddenly the plane veered heavily to the left Out of our last four flights, three either started with a disaster, ended in one or..well I don’t know yet about this third one We need to go back. But back to where? There was nothing, just a landing strip If there was one thing I learned, it was: never turn into a dead engine Come on baby, we need to get you into co-operating with me again, otherwise this landing is going to be a horror show. I don’t want to land in water. I can’t work on an engine, while sitting in a small rubber dinghy. Aaaah, my prayers seem to have helped. I finally managed to coax it back into life. Three minutes, give me three minutes!! That will be enough, then you can die on me again, no questions asked. Now, shall we have some fresh fish or curries with the beer FTX Global with PacSim scenery ( Ihope I am allowed to post this here, otherwise please delete this post)
Stillwater
Fantastic shots & story, Bernd. The Cat´s engines are very sensitive to heat, aren´t they? I wonder how you managed your screenies to be visible here... any OZx are hidden to me.
bernd1151
Thanks, Gerold, the Cat's engines are indeed quite sensitive to heat. As to OZx Image hosting, like you I still don't get any pics uploaded and my old ones don't show anymore. So for this post I have used another free image hoster instead "postimage.org"
