I have only included my FTX Global order number and it still says my signature is against the rules. I can just see the curfuffle when I ask for any support....EDIT I can delete my whole sig but it still appears. What's the trick?

As above, one order number from the FSS is enough.
At present, I see none.
-
Yes, one order number from the Flight Sim Store is enough.

Unless every trace of FSX is eliminated from the Windows Registry,
or it is being installed on a freshly installed operating system,
FSX Steam will install in "Co-existence" mode
This means that it will create external folders named FSX-SE rather than
FSX.
In this case, although the FTX software may install correctly, neither the
installer nor FTX Central will be able to locate the scenery.cfg file.
If you encounter this error message, the following is a fix which will work
whether there are traces of FSX remaining or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have already installed any products or scenery, before you start,
back up the contents of your
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE and
C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE
folders to another location.
Once the fix is applied, the back ups can be copied into the new
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and
C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
folders that will be created the next time that FSX Steam is run.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The registry editor is not complex but must be used with care.
It is highly unlikely that problems will be encountered with this simple edit.
To open the Registry Editor, select Search from your Windows menu and type in
regedit which will find regedit.exe. Click on this to run the Registry Editor.
Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition
where you will see a Registry Key named Co-existence.
You will see that its value is 1.
Right click on the Co-existence key and select Modify... and change the value to 0 (zero).
Close the Registry Editor.
You can then go to
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\
C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\
C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
and in each case delete the FSX-SE folder.
If you see an FSX folder, delete that also.
Then restart FSX-SE and new folders named FSX will be created.
Once you have done this, the file structure will match what
the installers and FTX Central expect to find for FSX and they will
work correctly.
EDIT: Now that there are product installers for FSX and FSX-SE,
if you apply this fix and have only FSX-SE on your PC, you MUST
use the FSX installer, not the FSX_SE option.
Credit for the registry fix to Steve Waite at the Avsim forum.
I have tried it and it works for me exactly as I have written.
As I have both versions on my PC, I have also found that
the process is entirely reversible.

Hello Adam,
No links posted, those were the files uploaded as attachments.
I have removed then anyway as they have served their purpose.
You site seems to be working fine now.
Many thanks.

Here you are.
I have worked out how to get the files from the website, let them
download and they will have an .html suffix.
Change the suffix to .zip and then unzip the file and you will have
a pdf document.

Hmm, I have the same problem here, IDM warns that it looks like a web page,
downloaded it anyway and it won't open with either Foxit pdf reader or Firefox.
I'm sure Adam will fix it...no pun intended.
I've found a copy in my archives, from December 2014 so well up to date.
Here you are.

It does seem that it is very difficult to remove all traces of FSX.
The TweakFS Registry utility will write your registry entry for you.
http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php
Then use this guide http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/93155-cant-get-orbx-to-work-with-fsx-se/#entry847348
to make FSX-SE use external folders named
FSX and not FSX-SE and you should be fine.
-
If you install FSX Steam onto a clean OS, you won't need to change any registry entries,
they will be exactly the same as FSX, as will the external folder names.
The installers will all work as expected.
-
Yes, I have.
Please consult this excellent topic where you will find the solution to your problem.

As I understand, no.
The present installer will work if only FSX-SE is installed
but not if both are.
There is a very useful topic here
which explains how to make the present installer work with a dual installation.
By the way, your question is answered in the very first post in this topic..........

Luckily I have no hair left to tear out
How is it possible to modify the registry and STILL have ORBX write to the orginal FSX,scenery.cfg and not into the Steam version
I can't see any difference between your entries and mine.
One way to achieve what you have would be to have your
FTX Central shortcut still pointing to the one in FSX.
You need two versions of FTX Central as I am sure you know,
therefore two separate shortcuts.
-
No, I'm sorry I don't know.
I do have a copy of FSX SE and I have attempted to
install various products into it with mixed success.
I have now removed them again as they all work perfectly
well in FSX.
My decision is to wait until there are proper fixes for the
problems.
-
Yes it is, yes it has and yes there is.
-
Hello Teecee,
Until there is an "official" FSX.SE app,
have a read here, where there is
a workaround.
-
I also found it interesting that the "fix" is three times more expensive than the program it's self.
Henry
You seem to have overlooked this line in the post.
Alternatively there is a free shader fix for the lights
(not yet tested by us) over at AVSIM) -
http://library.avsim...php?DLID=185080
the link requires that one is logged in at the Avsim
Library or a search for shader_release_v3.2.3.zip
will lead to the same location.
-
I know nothing of FSX SE but I think it logical to assume that
since there is no problem with the lights in Dx9, FSX SE runs
only in Dx10.......
***NEW SIGNATURE RULES***
in General Discussion

Hello,
You might be as well including one order number form each e mail address.
I checked the number you have given and that covers about 25 products?
The software will never pick up a purchase and mis-identify it as pirated.
It looks only for pirated software.
If you add a spoiler to your signature, you can add as much information to
it as you wish and only those who wish to read it can do so by opening the
spoiler.
It's the little eye in the menu at the top of the edit box.
