  5. For our American friends. There are generally two games in Oz played mainly through the winter months. There is AFL (Aussie Rules Football) which is more popular in Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania and the where the money is in Victoria. AFL a sport peculiar to Australia although it shares some of the rules of Gaelic Football in Ireland. There are two Rugby codes, those being Rugby League which is predominantly played in NSW and QLD in Oz and mainly the northern counties of the UK - and a bit in New Zealand. The other rugby code is Rugby Union (the game they play in Heaven). This code is a bit more global being played in Africa, South America, UK and Europe, Japan, Oz (NSW/QLD) and NZ and Oceania. Both codes originated in the UK but have some different rules. Over the years the New Zealand All Blacks have been the powerhouse of Rugby Union. My personal player of all time being Richie McCaw During summer all states and territories unite and play cricket!
  6. That's exactly what he said he needs Gumby!
  7. My son got his security clearance for his new job as a ramp agent at Gold Coast Airport. This is a picture he sent of his "boss" and the first plane he had to work on inside the cargo hold this afternoon, said it was very cramped and hard on his knees. He's only 23!
  8. Another great topic Rodge! As well as my beloved local, geographical sports, rugby and cricket (currently watching West Indies v Oz on a Friday night) I love watching the winter sports from Europe and North America. Snow has always fascinated me. There are the non conventional sports such as drone racing that I'll watch if I see it on. Perhaps not outside my geographical zone but a global sport is F1. I never miss a race be it live or replay. Cheers mates Graeme
  9. It's been a lean month flying wise, however got some time to explore Ken's PNG strips Good luck mates Graeme
  10. The outside is most important however I see the inside models as a bonus, particularly if I want to try and do arty screenshots. G
  11. Happy birthday mate! Cheers Graeme
  12. Thank you for the music indeed Adam. A music generation before me but my late uncle made sure we (and the neighbourhood ) got to know his music. Some amazing, classic tunes that will live on. As I mentioned a while ago Southern Cross gives me goosebumps. Thanks Adam. Cheers Graeme
  13. Rodger commented on their temperature the other day being -12deg C! Got me thinking about my experiences weather-wise. I have only ever experienced what I would call extreme cold and that was only for a few days in Roveniemi Finland in December, -20deg. My beer turned into a slushy! Locally we experience very humid summer days but that's the norm this time of year. We've been on the edge of cyclones but never had damage. The only extreme weather event thus far were the floods of February 2021 that basically closed down our region. What have been your extreme weather experiences?
  14. All of them great shots Carlos. Thanks for sharing mate. Cheers Graeme:)
  15. Hi Wolfgang, Tweed Heads is in the far north east of the state of New South Wales. We share the border with Coolangatta ( which is the southern most suburb on the Gold Coast in the state of Queensland). Gold Coast Airport is less than 10mins drive from my place. The crazy thing is during summer (now), one side of the street is an hour ahead of the other. As a business owner on the border I can tell you it is a real pain in the a..... !! Cheers Wolfgang
  16. I can imagine that comfort food is great in your winter Rodger. Just checked out the Denny's Spokane website, fancy almost all of it!. My/our favourite local diner is the Chinderah Tavern. My go to is the 400gram Rump Steak cooked rare with fries and salad. We went there last week however it was not so pleasant being hot and VERY humid - add to that the mozzies, they're really bad at the moment! Might give it a miss until the mozzies are under control, the local council is currently using drones to spray the waterways. Enjoy your winter mate. Cheers Graeme
  17. Mate, congratulations!! Hope it doesn't happen to me for a few years. Enjoy the babysitting Gumby. Cheers Graeme
  18. So happy to see this Wolfgang, indeed John will be happy. My son has just got a job as a Ramp Agent there. Cheers Graeme
